How to Stay Steadfast When Emotions Lie to You

We all have good days and bad days, smooth seasons and rough seasons. You may just be in a rough patch where you feel like you are in the wilderness and God has forgotten you. God will eventually show up and bring forth gushing waters and you will have a harvest of abundance again (Isaiah 43:19).

I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing. (Ezekiel 34:26)

In these moments of doubt, anxiety, fear, loneliness and uncertainty, you must cling to the Word of God and remain in the vine (the life-giving Power Source – John 15:5). In stormy times we must stand on the rock and remain calm (Ephesians 6). During times of testing and trial it’s not easy to stay peaceful because our emotions can lie to us. Our mind and heart deceive us at times, which is why we must wear the full armor of God, and we must clothe ourselves with the truth.

A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:37-40)

I encourage you to read some of the verses listed below, listen to some worship music, turn off your phone and spend some time with Jesus. He will refresh your soul and will remind you of who He is and who you are (God’s precious daughter), and will calm your fears. Emotions lie to us, so we must decrease the flesh so the spirit can increase; we do this by reading the Word and submitting our lives unto the Lord.

Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. (Isaiah 30:15)
