HUGE UPDATE for The Anti-Cosmo Mission– FTC SECRETARY WRITES ME!

    Good news, girls!!

For the past several months, I have been asking you to write me letters explaining how Cosmo has negatively affected you or your friends. I have recieved over 200 heartfelt stories from girls who regret mistakes they made because of what they read in Cosmo.

I started the Anti-Cosmo petition on Change.org and set it up so that every time someone signs the petition, all the major decision-makers get notified via email. This includes the CEO of Walmart, the CEOs of many major grocery stores, the chairman of the FTC Jon Leibowitz, and the senator of California. Please click that link and sign the petition! It really counts!

The first letter I received from the FTC was a polite blow off from the consumer response center. It simply said, “the Commission does not resolve individual complaints. The Commission can, however, act when it sees a pattern of possible violations developing.”

When I got that letter back, I became more passionate than ever. It is NOT an individual complaint! This harmful magazine is hurting thousands of young girls across the country each month!

The letter I just received is from the secretary of the commission himself, Donald S. Clark. It states that they are acknowledging the petition, and that they forwarded a copy of the letter to the editor-in-chief of Cosmo, Kate White. They copied her on the letter and stated they need a reply back from her, and sent it to me as well.

The best way you can help right now is to sign that petition. Tell EVERYONE YOU KNOW to sign it: Spread it on your Facebook page, tell your school principal and your teachers about it, anyone! Let’s make this viral! Here it is again: SIGN HERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND TO PUT COSMO IN A BAG!!

Comment here if you got anyone to sign it– together we WILL change the world!

        • Haha! That was an awesome comment. This just really motivated me. When we get back from Thanksgiving break- I am going to tell people at school and get all my girls to sign it. I also need to make sure they know about this site… Truly, I love this site with all my heart, and Nicole, you have really inspired me to be a better light for Christ. (: <3 I love you. Thank you. 😀

        • Do you hear yourselves? What is… why is… Look Nicole……. Just because you want something done… that does NOT give you the excuse to cheat it! You sign the petition ONCE like good honest Christians should! You don’t sign it 6 times for one person. It’s not right. What kind of Christians are you?

        • oh wow- I’m sorry Jane, I didn’t mean to upset you! I was unaware you couldn’t sign it twice. Even Christians make mistakes….

        • Jane ,, I see where yuur coming from but I’d rather sign a petition 100 times and see something effective and IMPORTANT happen than worry bout whether signing multiple times is cheating .. It’s about how we can serve God and keep impure encouragement and thoughts out of young girls minds ,, not whether multiply signing a petition is immoral or not ..

        • Nicole, I just found out about your petition and site via Fox News and was so excited. I have long been disgusted by Cosmo and wondered how it could be kept on open shelves. I came to your site to read more and sign your petition and I found this post. Please rethink these comments. God doesn’t need us to cheat for Him. He’s big enough without us. This petition is a good thing, but this attitude makes me not want to participate. This isn’t a condemnation, just an observation.

    1. Porn disgraces women’s bodies. God made our bodies to carry babies. Women are viewed as “sex” toys and that makes me mad. God didn’t take a rib out of Adam so we can be immoderate sex toys. We are beautiful and Cosmo is ruining that for us! Good eye Nicole and lets make a difference. That is messed up and I’m very disgusted at these magazines. Sex is meant for marrige and reproduction. You are amazing Nicole. God is on our side!

    2. Hey I’m not sure you’ll get this message since I’m not a member, but I hope you see it anyway Nicole. I just wanted to say that I applaud all the success you’ve had through PI and being able to make change in this world through persistence and writing very well. At the same time, there’s something that makes me a bit uncomfortable, mainly that from the facebook comments to Kate White and a few articles that don’t really give the impression of love in the way we correct others. Just wanted to be a reminder to be careful in the way we correct others; not comparing to us, but all of us ultimately to God and with compassion 🙂

      • thank you Joyce so much for the kind words, I really appreciate hearing that! But really, it means a lot to me. I understand what you’re saying about the comments on kate White’s wall, but I am trying to “shake her up” as much as possible because she has ignored every single one of my emails, letters, comments, and all of the other girls’ as well. I try and remember to be graceful, and to just focus on the fact that the magazine itself is bad, and not that SHE is the bad person. I might of accidentally made a mistake and said she was as well, but she deleted all of the comments anyway so they are not there anymore. 🙂 Yes I will really remember to go about this with grace and love, like I know God wants me too!
