If Only You Knew, By PI Girl Anna

Maybe you’re the one who wants so desperately to love and be loved that you would do anything to stay with someone.

Maybe you’re the one who tries so hard to get people to like you that you’ve lost sight of who you are.

Maybe you’re the one who is always there for your friends, but when you need them, they don’t care.

Maybe you’re the one who feels as though you’re nothing but a mess. Everything is out of control…you want to fix it in a few simple steps, but it’s never that easy.

Maybe you only look back on your life with sorrow because you feel as though they were the best years of your life and there’s no turning back from mistakes you’ve made.

Maybe you’re the one who has preached about God’s love countless times, but if you’re honest, it seems as if deep inside you’ve never actually felt it for yourself.

You try so hard. On the outside, others may perceive you as perfect. But on the inside, you are hanging on by a thread.

You call out to God, but what once seemed so easy to grasp is now just a fog.

You don’t feel important. Nobody really cares about you. All the smiles shot your way are filled with a shallow “How are you?” and dimly lit eyes.

You’re surrounded by “perfect people” and it bothers you. You know these people have problems, too…you’re not stupid. But for some reason you still feel inadequate standing next to them, or scrolling through their Instagram or Facebook pages.

    You’re broken.

    You’re tired.

    You’re done.

Oh, if only you knew the way you ravish God’s heart. In Song of Solomon 4:9, it literally says God’s heartbeat is accelerated with one glance of your eyes. He is captivated by YOU.

    Not enough?

    YOU are God’s temple.

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s SPIRIT DWELLS IN YOU? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.” —1 Corinthians 3:16

YOU are God’s possession. He RESCUED you.

“For you were BOUGHT WITH A PRICE.” —1 Corinthians 6:20

    YOU are beloved.

“But we ought always give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the spirit and belief in truth.” —2 Thessalonians 2:13

YOU have been set free from sin/condemnation.

“There is therefore now NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” —Romans 8:1-2

YOU have been set free from Satan’s control.

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved son, in whom we have redemption.” —Colossians 1:13

YOU were chosen before the foundation of the world.

“Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.” —Ephesians 1:4

YOU have been given the Holy Spirit.

“And who has also put his seal on us and given us His spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” —2 Corinthians 1:22

    YOU are complete in Him.

“And you have been filled in Him, who is the head of all rule and authority.” —Colossians 2:10

YOU cannot be separated from God’s love.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword…for I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” —Romans 8:35-39

    YOU are a conqueror.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” —Romans 8:37

    YOU are not helpless.

“God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” —1 Corinthians 10:13

    YOU have a living hope.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” —1 Peter 1:3

YOU have access to the Father.

“Through Him we have obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” —Romans 5:2

YOU have an anchor to your soul.

“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf.” —Hebrews 6:19

What does this mean? This means that you have been made perfect. Made holy. Sanctified literally means “set apart as or declared holy.”

Jesus didn’t die for you so you could be “a little less messy” or “a little more happy.” Jesus died for you so you could be completely free, completely whole, completely full of joy, completely content, completely full of his spirit.

“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone. The New has come.” —2 Corinthians 5:17

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification.” —1 Thessalonians 4:3

“For by a single offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.” —Hebrews 10:14

“You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” —1 Corinthians 6:11

So to the boyfriend/girlfriend who treats you like you’re a toy, or a second option, or like you have to constantly impress them…LEAVE THEM. Call them and tell them you don’t like them.

So to the voice in your head that gives you a list of ways you need to improve for God to love you more or be more proud of you…REBUKE IT.

So when society tells you that you’re not pretty enough, smart enough or good enough, YOU tell SOCIETY that you are a CHILD of the KING of the UNIVERSE.

So when society points to your weaknesses, you say, “Yes, I’m weak. But God’s power is made PERFECT in my weakness.”

So when you feel lonely and left out when people don’t invite you places, YOU are NEVER ALONE because GOD LITERALLY NEVER LEAVES YOU!

So when that cranky lady gives you some attitude for no reason, LOVE her ANYWAY.

So when you feel like there’s no hope, you say, “MY GOD is my hope. My strength. My joy. My ever-present help in time of need.”

Oh. If only you could see the way God sees you. The way He cherishes your every glance. The way He specifically and beautifully molds the paths of your life to lavish you in his love. The way you are redeemed, given a hope, given everlasting joy and given a life that doesn’t worry about tomorrow.

    He’s made you new.

    If only you knew.

    1. This is some good stuff! Actually, my youth pastor read Hebrews 6:19 and a few other verses before and after 6:19 during our worship time at Church this morning! So cool how I hear the verse once more!! 🙂 thanks for sharing!

    2. This is one of the most beautiful articles I’ve read on this website. This article was exactly what I needed right now. I want to thank the PI girl who wrote this for making me feel so much better. 🙂

    3. I can’t thank you enough for writing this article I needed this so badly. While I was reading this, “You are More” by Tenth Avenue North started playing and both the song and this article made me cry, so thank you so much.

    4. Thank you for writing this. For so long, I have been struggling with this with my peers at school, and family relationships. Sometimes I wonder why I keep struggling with this and I felt worthless, exhausted, depressed and empty. I felt like everyone I knew was happy even though I know everyone has struggles. No one understands my situation and I can’t relate to anyone at school because of it. Lots of people think I am strange to have strong Christian values. I lost almost all of my friends because they don’t understand the things I deal with day to day. These struggles have made me a stronger person and I know that it will end. I hope people can look at my life and the struggles in it and see not me, but my faith in Christ who is in me and can be changed because of it. This is such a beautiful reminder of God’s promises for my life and his love for me.

      • Abbey you are so strong! The word of the Lord is NOT return void. You will be so blessed by shining your light bright. There are so many others like you who feel how you feel. Stay strong 🙂 God adores you. And he is so proud of you! 🙂

    5. I’m so sharing this! These words of wisdom are spoken straight from God. You are an amazing girl. Thank you for posting this and listening to Our Father. It has something for every girl. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙂

    6. Wow. Just wow. You described my situation perfectly. I am a Proclaimer of the Word at my local church, and the readings I proclaim talk about God’s love for us, but I’ve never realized it or felt it myself. Also, there is a guy who I really really like, but things haven’t been going too well lately. When you said that God’s heart accelerates at the very thought of me, and when you said that I dont have to deal with being a second option or constantly impressing a guy, it made me realize that God’s love is everlasting and the guy’s love won’t last. So why mourn over his lost affection when I can rejoice in the everlasting affection from God? Thank you. Thank you for posting this. I am going to go to this article when I’m having a bad day, or when i feel unloved. It will also help me when i go to proclaim the Word. Thank you, and thanks be to God!!

      • You are so right. No boy can ever fulfill you the way God does! I can’t wait for you to experience God’s love in a whole new way, now that you are reminded how he sees you. You are a wise woman! God has such a beautiful life in store for you. Including a guy that will LEAD you closer to Him and remind you every single day of your worth and beauty <3
        In Him,
        Anna 🙂

    7. Hey Anna,
I hope you don’t mind that I saved this article on my computer with your name on it. It was just to right on to forget about it. Thank you for using your wisdom and not being afraid to share your wisdom with others.

    8. Hi Anna! That is just sooo great and I love every single thought in there! It really boosts my energy and I’m so happy to be reminded of these things! Praise God for giving you such wisdom in writing this. You encourage us all. REALLY! God bless you and continue to lift the name of the LORD!

P.S. I love this!! “So when society tells you that you’re not pretty enough, smart enough or good enough, YOU tell SOCIETY that you are a CHILD of the KING of the UNIVERSE.”

P.P.S. I also did what MegW had done because I just love this and don’t worry cause you have your name on it. 🙂 God bless you again and I hope you continue to voice out what God wants you to say! 😀

      • Hahaha! You make so happy! I can just tell you are such a joyful person! Anyways, I’m so happy you saved it! 🙂 Thank you for being so beautiful and for turning around and encouraging me right back! Have a marvelous rest of your New Years Day! <3

    9. This was exactly what I needed to hear. Sometimes I really don’t feel like I’m good enough, but I always have the Lord’s spirit in me to make me feel like I am truly good enough. Thank you for sharing this article. It has reassured me made me realize that God is always with me.
I really loved this line, “Oh. If only you could see the way God sees you. The way He cherishes your every glance. ”
This year I’m going to make some positive changes in my life and I can’t do that without God. I know I don’t have to worry because He’s with me always.
I loved your article and I hope you have a blessed year 🙂

    10. Wow, Anna, this is the first PI article that has really, truly spoken to me. I actually cried! I just want you to know that this is an article that will change my life and probably many other girls (based on the comments below 🙂 ) , and thank you so so SO much.
      God Bless!

    11. When I first started the article, I was like “Oh, none of these situations fit me.
I’m single. I don’t really care if people like me or not. My life is pretty straightforward. Well, looks like this article has nothing to do with me.”
      I was wrong.
When I hit the words “You don’t feel important. Nobody really cares about you,” it hurt. I always feel this way. Every day I wake up and feel this way. It’s a rather subtle throbbing in my head, telling me this. Not a literal throbbing, mind you, a metaphorical one. When someone casts me away, laughs at me, rolls their eyes at me, ignores me, the throbbing begins. Sometimes it gets worse, sometimes it gets better. But sometimes when I get home I just shut myself in my room and cry because I get sad about it. I feel so unloved.
But then I take a moment to remember: the King of the Universe and beyond CHOSE to make me, to bring me to life. He CHOSE to die for me. He does love me.
You, Anna, have helped me remember that our LORD does nothing without a reason. And if He made me, there must be a reason He lets me live, and there must be a reason He loves me.
Thank you for this uplifting article. You have a beautiful soul and I wish you every happiness the LORD could ever bestow upon you <3

      • I totally get how ktuck22 feels…..she couldn’t have said my thoughts any better on all accounts!!! I often feel like an outcast and like no one cares, I ache inside sometimes, it just hurts!!! But God loves me with an everlasting love and I will never know that true love until I know the very definition of love…….Jesus Christ. He will provide in each moment, even when I cry myself to sleep, I can know He is holding me close <3
