    I’m Loving This: Benjamin Dunn & the Animal Orchestra

    There’s a new band I’m totally loving: Benjamin Dunn & the Animal Orchestra. Their music is very electric and funky, and they have a great pop sound. The lead singer, Benjamin Dunn, has a unique voice that reminds me of a rock singer.

    I love the vibe of the band and hope you enjoy it as well! Some songs of theirs I like are “The Singing Elephant,” “We Came Alive,” “My Name is Eustace!” and “Caspian,” which references the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis.

    Their most recent album, “Fable,” was released in August 2012:

    ‘FABLE is a new class of venture for me in that I wrote it from the perspective of different Characters,’ explains Dunn. ‘While writing this record I was heavily influenced by C.S. Lewis’ books, and I actually think within this last year that I’ve read most or nearly all of his material more than twice! The Narnia Series, Perelandra, Out of the Silent Planet, etc., all of them found their way into this album’ (JesusFreakHideout.com).

    The cool thing about Dunn is that he and his wife, Stephanie, have a ministry called the Joy Revolution. They built an orphanage after traveling for eight years and are using their creativity and gifts to reach people in a positive, life-giving way. They recently came out with a video and audiobook, “The Happy Gospel Audiobook,” which is about the gospel and the truth about Jesus and the cross. You can see the promo for the audiobook here:

    1. You didn’t mention that Sail to the End was definitely inspired by the Narnia series as well. I am really liking their sound so far. Maybe they’re not my favorite band yet, but I like what I’ve heard! Thanks so much for bringing them to my attention!
