I’m Loving This: For King & Country
Written by Christi Given | February 23, 2013
Girlies! Have you heard of the duo For King & Country? Australian siblings Joel and Luke Smallbone comprise the awesome Christian band. (Psst! They’re also the younger brothers of Rebecca St. James!) Their debut album “Crave” was released in 2012; Billboard called it the “most anticipated album of the year” and compared its sound to Coldplay and Aqualung. Pretty impressive for a debut album!
Their single “The Proof of Your Love” is popular on the airwaves right now, and it’s both catchy and inspiring! In a Breathecast interview for the Christian Post, the brothers were asked about the meaning and mission behind their music:
[It’s to be] proof of something greater than ourselves; that we will all be the proof of God’s love.
The message is based off of 1 Corinthians 13:1-3:
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
