I’m Loving This: Plumb’s New Album, “Need You Now”

Christian rock artist Plumb released a new album called “Need You Now” this February! Some of my favorite songs from it are “One Drop,” “Drifting,” “I Want You Here” and “Need You Now (How Many Times).” You can check out the album on iTunes or Amazon.

“Need You Now (How Many Times)” is a song she wrote after discussing how deeply God loves us with some friends. In an interview with Today’s Christian Music, Plumb said the song stems from the idea that God “…never grows tired of our needing Him.(Listen to the full interview here.)

Girls, God wants us to go to Him when we are sinking, when life gets crazy and when we can’t do it on our own. He wants us to want Him all the time! Plumb has talked about her personal experience battling stomach problems and anxiety throughout school; she would pray in the bathroom and ask God to help her. This song was inspired by that difficult experience, and she even said it has ministered to her more than she ever thought it could.

Listen to “Need You Now (How Many Times)”:

Another Plumb song I like is called “One Drop”:

Plumb was interviewed for “Story Behind the Song” with Today’s Christian Music about “In My Arms,” her song about her son, Solomon. Plumb explains that the song came from a night she was holding her son in her arms. She realized her son was safe–she knew where he was and realized how much she loves him and the parallel of God’s love for us, His children. Listen to the song here:

The song is an expression of her unconditional love for her son, since no matter what he does, she will never love him any less. This idea is similar to the way God sees us as His children–no matter where we go or what we do, His love never fails, and He will never stop loving us.
