I’m Loving This! Pop Duo Poema’s First Album, “Remembering You”
Written by Christi Given | January 12, 2013
Have you heard of Poema, the singing sister duo? I heard their song “2 AM” on JCTV, the Christian music channel I frequently share with PI, and I loved their fresh acoustic sound. The band comprises sisters Elle and Shealeen Puckett. “Remembering You” (Tooth and Nail Records), their first album, debuted on September 7, 2012.
Their music is definitely pop acoustic and sounds very much like an indie, artsy Taylor Swift meets Francesca Battistelli. Watch their popular “2 AM” video below!
I also love their song “Wonder.” This video features some behind-the-scenes footage of the girls singing live. The song reminds me of Colbie Caillat and it is a pop acoustic, fun and upbeat song.
The album is filled with heartfelt lyrics about love, family and faith. The track “Clean Getaway” is about their dad leaving–the memories of what was left of the family and their questions about if their Dad really loved them. This song is personal and sad in many ways… here are some lyrics:
If there’s a single sound I’ll never forget, it’s your engine rumbling, I wish you’d seen the mess that you’ve made with your clean getaway…standing in the hallway, I hear the echo of your footsteps, blue eyes and your last name are the only things that you left…are we still family, do you still love me?
Listen to it here:
I also love the songs “Your Song,” “My Turn to Go,” “Fallin’” and “Hesitate.” Some of the Poema tracks sound like country meets indie folk music. I love the honesty in the songs and the representation of the emotion that comes with the experiences in life. I recommend checking out the sibling music group on iTunes or on their Myspace. You also can connect with them on Facebook!
PI girls, I want to know what you think of Poema and if they are someone you will listen to and support! Their music is positive, upbeat and they are an up-and-coming band!
Also, if you listened to the tracks, what is YOUR favorite Poema song?!
