“Columbine High School student Rachel Joy Scott grew up knowing the love of God but wasn’t always ready to receive it. At times her faith is strong, but at other times, she finds that it’s at odds with her daily life. After a difficult breakup with her non-believing boyfriend, Rachel finds inspiration from a formerly homeless teen, Nathan (played by Ben Davies), and her renewed commitment to Christ plays out powerfully at her high school and around the world. Based on a true story.”

The TODAY show interviewed legendary actress Jennifer O’Neill, who has worked alongside John Wayne and many other stars in Hollywood, about I’m Not Ashamed. Jennifer plays a Samaritan type of woman in the faith-based film: “Jennifer O’Neill has spent three decades in the entertainment industry with a variety of TV, film and modeling projects. She plays a good Samaritan in the new film I’m Not Ashamed, which she explains is about a young girl who finds her faith and transforms the world around her.”

The film portrays the true story of Rachel Joy (17-year-old Christian girl), who was shot and killed on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School during the Columbine massacre. The teen was asked if she still believed in God while the shooters had a gun to her head, and she said “yes,” and they shot her. She stood for her faith and her story is still being told today. The film isn’t all about the shootings, but about the life Rachel Joy lived and the people she inspired through her love and faith.

The major themes and topics in the film are to “discover the courage to stand up” for your faith in Jesus Christ, to have the “strength to speak out” and to have the “spirit to inspire millions,” as seen in the trailer.

There are some special appearances and cameos by Sadie Robertson (Duck Dynasty), Christian singer Jacquie Velasquez and more! Make sure to pray for the success of the film and also support it by seeing it in theaters!
