Does Paris Hilton Deserve a New Reality Show?

Another day, another “celebrity” getting a reality show. First, it was announced that Bristol Palin would be getting her own reality show chronicling her life in L.A. Now, it has been announced that Paris will be getting a reality show (again).

Her first run-in with reality TV was in 2003 with “The Simple Life.” She costarred with her then BFF (and reported frenemy), Nicole Richie. Paris has stated that on this show she was merely playing a character and that the world did not get to see the real her. In 2008, she had a reality show where she tried to find her “new BFF.”

Her new show, “The World According to Paris” is set to air on the Oxygen network and focus on her life “behind the scenes.” Paris had the idea for the show and is also producing it. There will be cameras in her home roughly sixteen hours a day, filming everything the socialite does.

Is this really necessary? Does anybody really care what Paris does in the comfort of her own home? Paris is not exactly a good role model. She jumps in and out of relationships, has had a sex tape released, been arrested for DUI’s, driving with a suspended license, and for various drug possession charges. When she tried to travel to Japan in September 2010, immigration officials refused to let her enter the country due to her drug convictions and promptly boarded her on a U.S-bound plane.

After she served time in jail in 2007, Paris claimed to have found religion. However, she hasn’t said much about it in the years since. It’s sad to see such a beautiful woman go down such a terrible path. She could use her strong influence for so much good rather than mindless reality shows. Since she said she was getting into religion once, the best we can do is pray that she again finds it and straightens out her life.

Would you watch a new Paris Hilton reality TV show?

What’s “reality TV” anymore, and is it REALLY reality? I want REAL reality TV shows about REAL HARDWORKING MEN AND WOMAN who work hard to earn their money. I don’t want the cast of Jersey Shore getting $100,000 dollars AN EPISODE for doing ABSOLUTLY NOTHING all day. WHAT HAPPENED TO REAL HOLLYWOOD TALENT?!

I think that if you’re going to have a reality TV show, you should have to earn it, not just ge one because you’ve starred in movies before.
