I took just about a million pictures just to find a picture to post for what I look like without makeup. But then I remembered I was made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), and that he loves me just the way I am. Before I came that realization about 3 years ago, I was ashamed of my skin because I used to have eczema at a young age. I would always scratch my arms mainly, and sometimes scratch my face. I did grow out of it, but I continued the habit of scratching through 5th grade. Sometimes people (kids and adults) would ask what’s all over my arms or if I had the chicken pox or something like that, so I would wear long sleeve shirts unless it was super hot. I was so embarrassed of myself for not only having scabs on my arms, but also for not being as pretty as the the prettiest girl in my class. But it seemed that the stronger my relationship was with God became from the 5th grade to now, the more my scratches cleared up. I became more content with my skin and what I looked like, and came to the realization I listed above from Genesis 1:27. Being involved in church and around friends who liked me for who I am helped too. And once I believed I was beautiful, I begun to notice people called me cute, pretty and beautiful. I was so blinded by being worried about how I looked, when I was already beautiful! Thank you Lord! 🙂
I never thought of wearing makeup then in 5th grade, and my mom wouldn’t have allowed me to anyways. I don’t usually wear makeup now either, unless it’s a special occasion or maybe the occasional lipgloss just to brighten up my lips. 🙂
