Jennifer Lawrence Stuns at the Oscars and We Match Last Week’s Modest Favorite!

Ladies, last night was the biggest red carpet event of the year…the Oscars! So, as usual, I was eagerly checking out the fashion selection for the most modest and chic gowns.

I hope you enjoy the dresses I picked! And don’t forget to check out this week’s modest matchup!

Jennifer Garner

I love this glitzy, strappy dress, from the fitted top to the layered skirt. I think it’s so pretty and feminine.

Jennifer Lawrence

This is such a stunning dress. I love the classic, crisp design with the fun ruffles above the hips. So elegant!

Penelope Cruz

Here’s another elegant dress with a Grecian twist. The flowing fabric is beautiful, and the black tie belt adds dimension to the monochromatic look. Love!

Now for our modest matchup!

Zoey Deutch

Last week, Zoey Deutch’s pale pink, embellished spring dress won our Modest Is Hottest poll, so I went in search of a similar dress that could help you get her look!

How about this pretty pink dress? It has the same sleeveless, round neck look as Deutch’s dress, and the floral lace overlay is similar to the embellishment throughout. What a great dress for an Easter celebration! What do you think?

Which of our three modest looks is your favorite?

I don’t really think some of these were very modest… they were all a little too clingy, but that’s just my opinion.

Emma Watson wasn’t in this one… are you talking about a different Modest is Hottest? Also why did you change Modest is Hottest? I like the one with the actual immodest one, isn’t that what this was all about? Teaching us what’s immodest and whats modest? All modest doesn’t really teach us what’s immodest at all… just my opinion :). I liked Jennifer Lawrence.

The Oscars this year had so many gorgeous gowns! I was so pleasently surprised by the cute and modest turnout of dresses this year.

    1. I love the flapper/20’s feel of this. I thought it looked somewhat flattering. The shoes could have definatley been better. And I think the hair would look gorgeous if it was curled and put in an updo with a glittery over sized pin or clip.

    2. J-Law rocked it, as usual. I kind of wish she would have done something a little more adventurous with the dress but it still looks great. Her hair really stole the show though and it’s like everyone loves it, or everyone hates it. I’m personaly of the school who loves it. It shows that pixies don’t have to be boring! I actually like this more than when she has her hair normal.

    3. I like the flowy design. I would probably change the color though.

Modest Matchup = Once again you’ve made it so much better than the actual dress! Love it!!! 🙂

I really didn’t like what Lawrence did with her hair and honestly I hated the dress, but personal style is all about being you right?

Jennifer Garner’s dress is sooo pretty! It sort of reminds me of the 20’s.
Jennifer Lawrence’s dress was pretty too… that color really looks good on her.
Penelope Cruz’s dress is absolutely gorgeous.
BUT I voted for JG. 🙂

I loved Lupita Nyong’O’s dress…although it dipped way too low in front, the flowing sky blue material was gorgeous, I loved the lines. But all three of these choices are beautiful too!

Awww. Well, these are nice, but not my favorites.
    1. It’s okay. The sparkles are nice.
    2. I liked hers. It’s very flattering on her body.
    3. I just really don’t like black and pink together. If the dress was another color, I’d like it.

Idk, I reaaallllyyy loved Sandra Bullocks, Amy Adams, Anne Hathaways, Lupita Nyong (that one was low, but still), and Idina Menzels Jenna Dewan’s.

I love the Modest Matchup this week! I like it even better than the original (I thought the original’s neckline was a little frumpy). I’d love to have a dress like that but I don’t really have anyplace to wear it. 🙂

Unfortunately, this is where modest is not hottest. The dresses featured here, while beautiful, hardly scratch the surface of some of the gowns last night. Sandra Bullock, Naomi Watts, Jessica Biel, Idina Menzel, Cate Blanchett, and Amy Adams all wore incredibly beautiful and modest (by PI’s standards) dresses. Emma Watson’s was nice too. My personal favorite was Lupita Nyong’o’s dress, but she always shines. To be honest, most of the time when PI covers the red carpet at major events at least 2/3 of their dresses featured end up on everyone else’s Worst Dressed List (in this case Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Garner). This is a real shame when I think their goal is to combine high fashion with modesty for Christian girls (which is totally respectable).

#1: I love the look of this one! It has a vintage type twist, and the sparkles add some glam! Her hair looks gorgeous too! This look just has that old-Hollywood feel.
#2: While I personally could NEVER pull off that color, Jennifer ROCKS it. But then, she rocks everything she wears. I love the ruffles on the waist, they add a fun flair to an otherwise plain dress. My one complaint? Her hair needs some work. I didn’t like it when she cut her hair, but it usually looks way better than this.
#3: One of my favorites from the night! SOOOO gorgeous and elegant! The black sash is a nice touch. This dress is the epitome of beauty and elegance.

Ohmygoodness I was so happy when she cut her hair!! 😀 But that’s just because I’m like OBSESSED with pixie cuts right now. O.O Anywho! I think it fits her personality! 😛 And maybe I like it because it’s so me, too… Honestly, if J-Law would live where I live, we would probably be like serious besties! O.O …not even joking! xP

Yeah. :/ Though of course, it was totally worth it for Les Mis 😉 …At least those people did it for movies (Jennifer Lawrence has said in interviews that she just randomly cut her hair on a whim basically lol XD).

Yeah, I hated her hair. :/ She had such gorgeous hair, and while she clearly still always looks stunning, her hair that night was horrid. O_o

It is sort of like when Anne Hathaway cut her hair. She is still beautiful, but her hair was so gorgeous before and it broke my heart to see it all gone! Same for an actress from Doctor Who, she SHAVED her head for a movie, and she had such gorgeous red hair!
