Me Without Makeup
Written by Project Inspired | April 23, 2012
I usually wear makeup on a daily basis, it’s just become part of my normal routine. Wake up, wash my face, put foundation on, apply some mascara and finishing powder..it’s all apart of my morning. But don’t get me wrong, some days I can be found in sweat pants, my hair up, and not a drop of makeup on my face. That’s how I like it. So why do I wear makeup? Ive realized I mainly do it to fit in. I shouldn’t feel this way and I’m learning to not care if I’m the only one not wearing makeup of not let it get to me when people look at me differently. I was football manager this past summer for the high school football team. For one week one of the Varsity football players would not give me my makeup, which I had stupidly left in the football office. For one week I started not caring about what I looked like. For one week I truly felt beautiful. For one week I got complements from every guy on the team. All hundred of them. For one week I got called
‘stunning’. For one week, I felt beautiful the way God made me. And for every week after that, I never felt like I HAD to wear makeup. Actually, when I would show up to practice with makeup on the guys would tell me they like me without it. They were able to see the real me, the one who isn’t hiding under $40 foundation. I’ll be headed to Uganda this October to visit orphans, and I’ll be proudly not bringing any makeup. Laugh, love, and thank God for the life He has given you.
