Lauren Daigle to Perform Hit Worship Song ‘You Say’ on American Idol’s Season Finale

In a recent post to Instagram, singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle announced that she was going to be performing on the American Idol finale.

The two-time Grammy award winner will be performing her hit single “You Say,” in front of millions of viewers. In a non-traditional finale setting, the 28-year-old will be performing from the comfort of her home in order to comply with social distancing protocols.

“I am so excited to be performing on the @americanidol finale, it’s going to be awesome,” Daigle announced on Instagram.

The show is also featuring last year’s runner-up, Alejandro Aranda, alongside Gabby Barrett, Jordin Sparks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Laine Hardy, Lauren Alaina, Phillip Phillips, Ruben Studdard and Scotty McCreery.

The star-studded event will be quite the production, but it won’t be the first time Daigle appears on the show.

More than 10 years ago, Daigle tried out for the show, getting cut quite early on.

“When I was 17, I tried out for ‘American Idol.’ I look back on that 10 years ago and I think, man, the journey has been so incredible. Like it really has. This show gave me something to believe in, it really did,” the artist said to the ‘American Idol’ finalists last season when she appeared as a celebrity guest mentor.

“You Say” comes from Daigle’s 2018 album Look Up Child, which debuted at spot number 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her album came out on top of popular secular artists like Drake, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj during that week.

Tune in Sunday, May 17 at 8 pm EST.
