May Book Club: “I’m No Angel”

Happy May to All My Sweet Book Club Girls,

I am very excited to read this month’s Book Club selection, I’m No Angel, by former Victoria’s Secret Angel contest winner Kylie Bisutti, and I hope you are too. Kylie and I have similar stories about our years in modeling. We also have the same heart and message – that the world’s idea of beauty is often airbrushed, spray tanned, overly made up and basically fake. True beauty comes from loving Jesus and letting His love shine through you.

    book1

Kylie began modeling in her early teens and quickly found out that beneath the glitter on the outside, the inside world of modeling can be dirty, depressing, and downright ugly. Maybe some of you girls think that Victoria’s Secret “Angels” are the perfect image of beauty, like Kylie did. But when she won the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Angel Competition, she discovered that the clothes she was expected to wear, the poses she was expected to strike, and the parties she was expected to attend compromised her morals and her relationship with her husband and – more importantly – with God.

Kylie took a courageous stand and told Victoria’s Secret she would not model for them. She also ended her contract with her modeling agency and now hosts Bible studies and marriage retreats at her home in Montana. As she puts it in I’m No Angel, “I quit being a VS model to become a Proverbs 31 wife.” You can purchase the book here.

It takes courage to give up what you have always wanted to do what you know God wants you to do. But I know from my own life that when you do follow Him, He rewards you with much more than the world could ever offer.

    Happy reading!

    1. I wish I could read this! 🙁 Don’t have the money for it. This makes me even more excited about your book, Nicole! You both quit your modeling jobs to become the wonderful Godly women and good wives you are today. I love you both. 🙂
