Molly-C-Quinn

Molly C. Quinn

This design reminds me of a dancer’s dress! It’s a simple cut enhanced by the material and cute necklace.

jennifer-lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

Congratulations, Jennifer, on your big win at the Golden Globes yesterday! And what a stunning dress for the occasion. Not many can pull off a strapless dress modestly, but you sure can. You’re definitely a winner in modest style!

Kathryn-Newton

Kathryn Newton

So cute! Love the pastel blue, love the design, love the shape of the skirt, and adore the sneaks and matching bag. What a unique, fun and beautifully modest look!

peoples-choice-taylor-swift

Taylor Swift

Oh Taylor! I was so disappointed when I saw you wearing this dress at the People’s Choice Awards. You are so successful and you don’t have to dress in such a revealing manner to look sophisticated. I pray you reconsider this step!

I knew Jennifer Lawrence was humble and strived to be a good role model for younger girls, but it’s great to know she’s modest too!!!

Kathryn Newton’s dress is cute, although I’m not sure the shoes go with it well. I love the shade of blue, it looks good on her! I probably couldn’t pull it off, that’s for sure.

Ugh!!!!! T. M says the article isn’t about the woman wearing the dress, just the dress itself. But as I scroll through the comments, 90% are about how Taylor wore the ‘immodest’ dress to ‘make Harry Styles jealous,’and how she was ‘disappointing.’ And how ‘nothing good ever happens out of dating and breaking up and dating more’ My sister is 16. She started dating at 12. She’s had 6 boyfriends(counting her currant one) and she found him. This amazing guy who’s really nice and is saving money to buy them a house. That came out of dating and breaking up and dating again. But back to the hate on Taylor. People are judging. Because she’s wearing that. T.M you were wrong. No more ‘Modest Makeovers’!!!!

Taylor Swift can’t be a little girl forever. She needs to grow up. This dress says just that. It says ‘Hey, I’m not a little girl anymore. I’m an adult. I’m sexy and I want to show I’m proud of my body. I’m not going to keep it hidden. Goodbye little girl Taylor, Hello Adult Sexy Taylor!’ Just my thoughts. No hate:)

Posted by kenzielove on February 9, 2013 at 15:01

All of these dresses I think are so pretty! Taylor’s could use a little makeover, it is cut too low, but other than that it is pretty modest. I also love Kathryn Newton’s outfit–that is the only time ever that I have seen creepers (the sneakers) actually look pretty.

I know you guys are entitled to your opinion, but personally I loved Taylor’s dress. Seriously, it’s beautiful, and since she is normally so modest, I think it’s fine that she has some outfits that may not be AS modest, but honestly, it wasn’t that bad. Also, she did not wear it to make 18 yr old Harry Styles jealous….

Taylor Swift is such a great role model as well, I just wish that she didn’t feel like she has to change to fit in with the ‘IN Crowd’. She’s already so beautiful, she doesn’t need cleavage to prove it!

Yeah, I mean I know we want the celebrities we look up to to have the same values as us, and most don’t, so to her this probably wasn’t a “mistake,” I mean, nobodies perfect.

    • AllisonGrace

Posted by AllisonGrace on January 19, 2013 at 15:25

That isn’t a reason to stop liking someone. Jesus hung out with tax collectors, drunks, and prostitutes. Taylor Swift made a fashion misstep, it doesn’t mean she’s a bad person.

Jennifer looked beautiful, but I just have one problem with her dress: the bust area!! It’s a little strange and not very flattering, and in my opinion not very modest to call that much attention to that area in that way….I’m also very disappointed with Taylor’s dress, I mean I have to admit it’s gorgeous, but would’ve been better if it didn’t plunge so much!

  19. texasgirl

Posted by texasgirl on January 18, 2013 at 10:04

The 1st, 2nd, and 4th dresses are immodest. If the 1st lady leaned over, people can see down her shirt, The 2nd one is too low and looks uncomfortable, and Taylor’s is a more feminine version of Miley’s shirtdress.

  20. jade12

    Posted by jade12 on January 18, 2013 at 09:37

Taylor could cover up more. Jennifer’s dress might look better if it had more inches on the top. I think kathryn’s outfit could look a little bit better if the sneakers and her bag were white. I’m really hoping that molly’s dress is not see through. If those changes were made in those outfits then they would look even more awesome.

  21. warmothally

Posted by warmothally on January 17, 2013 at 06:57

Taylor’s dress is glamorous, and she looks beautiful in it, but the deep v neckline could be a bit less deep.

  23. horseluver2498

    Posted by horseluver2498 on January 16, 2013 at 17:25

Molly’s “cute necklace” isn’t a necklace- it is a Rosary and that’s a REALLY disrespectful way to use one…..especially when it has disappeared down her breasts, which is NOT modest!!!
I like the dress, but it could use a higher neckline and I wish she wouldn’t use a Rosary as a fashion accessory. That’s NOT what it’s for!!!!
    I do love Kathryn’s dress πŸ™‚
But PI please keep doing this, just make sure that the dresses are really actually modest and that nothing religious is being used innapropriately!

Its funny, first one of Jennifer Lawrences dresses shows up in the makeover section, and now she’s at the top, and Taylor Swift (who’s usually the modest one) shows up in the makeover section :(. But I do agree it can use “a little” modest makeover as compared to Kristen Stewart’s dress which just needed to be trashed and started over!

I’m sort of loving the gothic ballerina-type dress, and the necklace with it. Might be a little short for my comfort zone, but a couple inches lower and I would absolutely wear it…

  25. PureFashionLover

Taylor’s still one of my role models even though she wore that dress, but I do wish I could have been the one to dress her for the evening and give her something with a higher neckline. Other than that, I love her gorgeous, floor-length gown and the other girls’ looks as well.

I really like Jennifer’s dress, except I would like for it to have a little more coverage. The other two are really cute, though the sneakers with Kathryn’s dress do look kind of tacky. I am really disappointed in Taylor, she has always been so modest. And to everyone who has been saying how they don’t like this page, they aren’t doing this to judge. They are doing it to show us good modesty role models in Hollywood.

Obviously, you’re a 1D fan, and think that the guys can do no wrong, so that TOTALLY means Taylor is doing that just to make him jealous, which is probably completely untrue. I don’t like 1D anyway, but this angers me. Taylor’s dress is not bad at all anyway. Ugh I hate how people worship the ground that Harry Styles walks on.

And I want to say this in the most respectful way possible, but I’m not a fan of this whole “modesty makeover” thing. Why are you wasting your time sitting in front of your Tv, watching award shows just to check off which celebrities are not dressing to your standards? How is pointing out a low cleavage dress going to help our spiritual growth? When I come on a site like this, I expect to find encouraging articles about how to grow in your faith, not something superficial like this. Sorry if I offended anyone, but it just really bothers me. 😐

    • cheyartgirl16

      Posted by cheyartgirl16 on January 16, 2013 at 17:46

I just think of this “Modest is Hottest” thing as a way of forming my own opinion of what is modest and what is not. I think it’s great for young girls (and adult women) to see that some celebrities ARE choosing to dress in modest way, and that is something that we can safely emulate.

Kayla, I’m going to try to put this is the nicest way possible. You ARE starting a fight already if you didn’t notice. And when you wrote what I said again it sure looked like mocking which is rude and mean so if you weren’t trying to sound mean you’re doing a lousy job of it. And I know what your thinking, “she didn’t try to say it in the nicest way possible.” Or, “You’re doing a lousy job of saying it in the nicest way possible.” Well if I got that correct I would tell you that these articles are supposition to be encouraging to the girls on this website and you’re not showing much encouragement yourself. You’re just putting other girls who like these articles and like these dresses down. All this hating on these articles and on these dresses NEEDS TO STOP.

      • Project Inspired

Posted by KaylaHansa on January 18, 2013 at 17:01

“But if you don’t care what celebs wear or what other girls think is cool or modest then don’t read the article and post your opinions cause you’ll just start another fight”

I disagree. Meaningful discussions are healthy and Christians should be able to share opinions with out starting I fight.

And I’m not trying to be mean but I highly doubt celebs would start dress modestly if they saw these articles because probably 95 percent of their fans don’t how how inappropriate they dress so it wouldn’t make a difference to them what we think.

    • lotr1997

      Posted by lotr1997 on January 15, 2013 at 17:10

I think that these articles are intended to help us see that Modest is Really the Hottest. When a star dresses modestly, that encourages us to dress modestly. They aren’t judging anyone, they are offering suggestions on what’s modest and what’s not.

      • jade12

        Posted by jade12 on January 18, 2013 at 09:20

I agree with lotr, when celebs dress in a certain way, some girls like to dress like them so they can look cool. So if those girls see these modest dresses or outfits on their role models they’ll dress modestly too. This article is really inspiring to most of the girls who go on this website. But if you don’t care what celebs wear or what other girls think is cool or modest then don’t read the article and post your opinions cause you’ll just start another fight, and nobody wants that. And if we do send these articles to celebs then they might look at these and dress more modestly.

Posted by alwaysemilie on January 15, 2013 at 18:13

I understand what you’re saying, however I don’t think they should be all like, “Woah, you need a makeover, this is soooo disappointing!” It gets tiring when that’s all I ever see in the emails from this site. But thank you for being respectful of my opinion.

@KaylaHansa, ITA! I’ve always felt kinda weird about the whole “modest is hottest” phrase. It makes no sense to me. I mean, first they tell you, “You must dress modestly, you don’t want guys staring and lusting after you!” then they encourage you to do so with, “Remember, modest is hottest!!” And I’m like, “Uh…do you even know what ‘hot’ means?” I mean, I’d much rather be ‘pretty’ than ‘hot.’

      • Project Inspired

Posted by KaylaHansa on January 15, 2013 at 17:22

No, they aren’t judging anyone at all. It just that this articles are not beneficial to Christians spiritually. And honestly, modest is not hottest. When you call someone “hot” that means basically sexual appealing…which Christians are NOT supposed to be. We should be modest because it’s what the Bible teaches us to be, not because we believe modesty actually makes a person look “hotter”, as these articles are trying to say. I’m not judging… just sharing my opinion. (:

I mean, there’s nothing wrong with sharing what dresses you like, but do we really have to waste our time pointing out everything wrong with the way other celebrities dress when you could write an uplifting article that would actually be useful to others spiritual growth?

Not a huge fan of this “Modest is Hottest.” The first one looks like a gothic ballerina, and in other pictures, Jennifer Lawrences was verrryyy busty. I think the gold sneakers look pretty tacky too. I honestly think there were worse dresses than Taylor’s, and it kind of seems like she’s picked on alot on this site. • HurricaneMurphGirl

Posted by HurricaneMurphGirl on January 15, 2013 at 23:10

So I just have to say something about your comment of Jennifer Lawrence. You said she was, and I quote, “verrryyy busty.” If you’re talking about showing cleavage, there’s hardly ANY there. Sure there’s a bit more CHEST than I’d really be comfortable with on me, but that’s just my personal comfort and not anything I’d instill on others. It’s simply an opinion. And really, I don’t find there anything wrong with showing a little cleavage. (Not to the extent that some people take it, but a little isn’t bad.)

Now if you weren’t talking about cleavage, that seems really rude. Jennifer Lawrence can’t help how God made her body, and she shouldn’t be forced to dress like a nun just because He gave her a generous amount up top… Just saying. This was not meant to offend you or invoke an attack on me, I’m just pointing out that the dress wasn’t, in my opinion or that of the author’s, immodest. And if you were talking about her body size/shape, that was incredibly rude.

Posted by AllisonGrace on January 17, 2013 at 18:49

I was talking about her cleavage. I adore Jennifer Lawrence!!! And her body is wonderful. I was simply saying that in other pictures it was less modest. Jennifer Lawrence’s dress has a touch of femininity and flair. She is so humbly modest, and I love that about her! She is my favorite celeb.
