Modest Is Hottest: Mila Kunis Dons a Dreamy Dress and We Give One Star a Makeover!

Hey sweet girls! I love that so many of you are into the “Modest Is Hottest” posts. My hope is that they give you some great ideas for modest style, and prove that a modest look is so much cuter and classier than an immodest one!

Take a look and tell us what you think:

emma-stone

Emma Stone

I’m such a fan of the shift dress–it’s super versatile and works for most occasions. This is such an adorable, classic look with a 60s flair!

Rooney-Mara

Rooney Mara

I love the style of this black dress. The square neck and slightly puffed shoulders are jazzed up with a funย filigreeย pattern and uneven skirt.

Mila-Kunis

Mila Kunis

Ooh la la! This is such a pretty dress! I adore the wide round neck and fitted lace bodice, and the layered skirt is so graceful. I think “dancer” when I see this dress!

Christa-B-Allen

Christa B. Allen

Christa! While I love your outfit’s yellow printed fabric, theย ensembleย itself leaves little to the imagination with its super short skirt and midriff-baring top.

Poll

Which of our three modest looks is your favorite?

I have a suggestion for a celeb to be featured in an upcoming “Modest is Hottest”: Ellen DeGeneres! She and her wife, Portia de Rossi, both dressed modestly at this year’s Grammy awards, so I’d love to see a a pic of either just Ellen or them together. Ellen always dresses modestly, and even though I’ve never seen her in a skirt or dress, as most female celebs are, I still greatly admire her style.

Uhhhh, I don’t know what to say to this. It is great that she dressed modestly, but I don’t think that it would be right to feature her, simply because of the lifestyle she chooses to live. No offense to anyone.

Really? Come on. Mila Kunis isn’t exactly a saint, nor are many of the women who dress modestly. Many of them openly live lifestyles that we disagree with. That doesn’t mean we can’t look up to their modest style decisions. Ellen Degeneres is a wonderful woman with a great, modest style. We all sin and make bad lifestyle choices, please remember that. P.S I’d LOVE to see Ellen on here!

I love Emma Ston’s! I like her ok, but she’s in some pretty inapropro movies;) Mila Kunis’s is ok, and Ugh rooney mara’s is atrocious! And Christa B’s is immodest, but I’ve seen way worse.

Fashion forecasting (yes, it’s a real thing!) calls for the 60’s making a comeback in the fashion world, as shown by Emma’s dress above. I love Emma as an actress and style icon and would wear that dress she has on in a heartbeat! As for Christa’s, I would alter it by closing the gap between the top and bottom w/ a little piece of fabric and lengthen the hemline.

    Posted by claremead1998 on February 20, 2013 at 09:58

Emma’s dress style is cute, but the colors just don’t appeal to me. Rooney’s dress is probably my favorite just cause I love the up/down style. Mila’s dress would be way prettier in a different color, the color that it’s in looks so awkward. And that last outfit I don’t care for. The color and print are cute but the gap at the stomach makes no sense. All in all. I don’t really like any of these outfits.:/

Out of all the 4 dresses, I like Christa’s dress the most. It doesn’t look immodest at all to me. But there’s no poll for it D: I wish Nicole would have a feature where we could even vote for the “immodest dress” too…

I love all of them. I really like shift dresses. Emma has perfect 60s adorable-ness.
That last one is really cute. I would definitely wear it if it didn’t have that silly gap in the middle and wasn’t quite so short.

I love love love Mila’s dress. I would totally wear something like that and I love how girly and modest it is..so yeah.

Mila’s is by far my favorite! I LOVE this style of dress! the shift style looks horrible on my body frame.

  18. lilyworshipsongs

Posted by lilyworshipsongs on February 18, 2013 at 22:58

well…the last dress isn’t so bad…I mean, it was like “BAM RIGHT IN YO FACE” yellow like I saw a guy wearing at a b-ball game a while ago…(he also had a nuetral-colored shirt, thank you very little…you couldnt ever look within five feet of him…-_-) IM NOT SAYING ITS MODEST THOUGH! I’m just syaing there is far worse. like, just make the skirt a bit longer andthe top a bit longer and poof! fixed!

Posted by bethluvstheafters on February 18, 2013 at 21:45

  20. Remedy

Posted by Remedy on February 18, 2013 at 20:11

I actually don’t think the last one is too immodest. At least not the top half. She isn’t showing any cleavage at all. In fact, Mila’s dress is swooping down and is lower than Christa’s. The cut in the middle isn’t that bad either. Sure, it’s showing the stomach a little bit, and I wouldn’t be comfortable with it, but I don’t think a guy is going to just get attracted because of something like that. It’s not like it’s a HUGE cut. The only thing I don’t like is that the skirt is so short. Once she bends down…well, you know how that goes! And also the fact that the dress reminds me of a cheerleader outfit, but maybe that’s just me! The color is cute. I had a dress the exact same color as that for Homecoming one year.

  21. Marcy

Posted by Marcy on February 18, 2013 at 19:46

The only one I really liked was the third one. It’s gorgeous! I love the style and the color and its soooooo pretty! The first and fourth ones both are to short in my oppinion. (I only wear knee length or longer skirts, unless wearing it with leggings.) I do love the color on number four, but not on number one. Number two is cute and modest, but really not my style. I love the skirt, but didn’t care for the sleeves. As far as the immodesty of number four, its amazingly good in the neckline, bad in the middle (midriff), and a little bad in length (but to be honest, a lot of the modest dresses in these posts fail my length test, too).

Christa’s dress is hardly immodest at all. I’m not a fan of yellow, though. But at least they changed the polls to vote for your favorite dress..

    • Eurydice

Posted by Eurydice on February 18, 2013 at 20:22

They haven’t changed the polls enough. They don’t leave any room for disagreement about modesty.

Or just accept the fact that the editors are not going to channge for just a few people. They don ‘t want people to vote for he immodest dress because they want to ENCOURAGE MODESTY.

That’s true. If they added an option to vote for the “immodest dress” then I might feel a tiny bit better about these articles. :/

  23. pinkpenguin318

    Posted by pinkpenguin318 on February 18, 2013 at 17:23

I love Mila and Roony’s dresses! However, I hated Emma’s. Shift dresses only look okay on pin-thin models, and that dress doesn’t show off Emma’s great figure! ๐Ÿ™ I’m really picky about clothes that flatter someone. Not to show off your curves in a “ooh, look how sexy I am!” way, but in a way to play up the great figure God gave you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • alwaysemilie

Posted by alwaysemilie on February 18, 2013 at 18:54

    • pinkpenguin318

      Posted by pinkpenguin318 on February 18, 2013 at 17:27

And while Christa’s outfit did reveal her stomache, I thought it wasn’t overly immodest in that the skirt wasn’t stuck to body like a second skin, and the top only revealed a bit of her stomach but none of her chest. I’m a big fan of strolling through magazines and there are lots of people who apparently think showing it all off is the way to go. (Which in my opinion, to quote Emma Watson, “less is more”). But yes, I do think that the outfit didn’t need to show off Christi’s sstomache.

      • Kyla

It’s ok to disagree with someone else’s modesty standard. But the author showing cute ways to stay within her modesty standard is NOT doing anyone any harm. These posts are NOT misogynistic or showing a hatred of women. If anything, my modesty standard would be stricter then the author’s. I haven’t even worn a one piece bathing suit without a cover up over it in years when around guys. Yet I LOVE feeling beautiful in clothing that appropriately covers my body. I LOVE to be a women, dressed like a women, in a modest fashion. And I LOVE that I am able to respect my brothers in Christ by appropriately covering my body.

I like them all, but Emma’s seems so plain. I love the color of the last one, Christa’s dress. I LOVE 2 and 3. But I have issue with the question posed at the bottom. Ok, so I know lots of people were upset by the last question about immodest dresses, but although I love that this one is more positive, you give us no choice for the final dress, it’s probably a mistake, but it comes off as if we like the last one. Not trying to argue, only give you advice to improve. Love u all!

I think it would be cool if they also had a voting thing for our opinions on the immodest dresses. But instead of asking if they need a makeover or not, they could have three options like: 1. It’s definitely immodest, 2. I might wear it, but it’s not my favorite, 3. I love it, not immodest at all! Just an idea! ๐Ÿ™‚ Your profile pic is cute!
