Modest Is Hottest! Movie Prom Edition: Hermione Granger Rocks Ruffles and We Give TWO Characters a Makeover!

Hey sweet PI ladies! Since we are in the midst of prom season, we thought it would be fun to do a Modest Is Hottest post on fun movie prom/formal dance dresses. Please note that I’m not endorsing any of the movies featured–I just wanted to take a look at some modest (and not so modest!) movie prom dresses.

So here goes!

Ariel Moore/ “Footloose” (1984)

I love this adorable pink dress. It’s a very simple and classic design featuring a single off-the-shoulderย ruffle and cinched satin waist.

Hermione Jean Granger/ “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005)

Love ruffles? How about this gorgeous gown featuring various shades of purple, a cascade of ruffles and adorable satin ribbon belt. And I just love the sheer shoulders!

Sandy Olsson/ “Grease” (1978)

This white dress with fitted bodice and flowing skirt is a ’50s design that never dies! I love the flower at the waist.

Michele Weinberger and Romy White/ “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” (1997)

ย I love unique, but these two prom dresses are just too risque! Not only are they short and revealing, but the designs look like undergarments!

Which of our three modest looks is your favorite?

I’ve always loved Hermione’s Yule Ball dress. It does show a little chest, but I don’t think it’s enough to be considered immodest.

Hermione’s is so pretty. and I dont see anything wrong with showing a teensy bit of cleavage as long as it’s modest

I’m not sure the second one is very modest. Maybe from a different angle you would see that the chest area is a little revealing.

Love Hermione’s dress! Always have ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not going to prom. That weekend happens to be the last week of Turkey Season. I’m going camping and hunting with my dad and brother instead.

I’ve always loved Hermione’s dress, and when I first saw the movie I wanted it to be my prom dress when I grew up, I still do!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hermione’s ombre dress. It does show off a little bit of her chest, but I think there is nothing wrong with that at all. I hope I look as stunning as she does on my “big night!”

I really like the idea of doing it from movies. Could we do this more often? It is so cool! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the second dress, although the neckline is a little low, but it is gorgeous!

While I love 50’s style dresses as a rule, Hermione’s dress has always just “done it” for me!

I liked the character idea A LOT. Also, I loved all the dresses (and the movies).

Evil? Really? Good grief. If yah don’t like it don’t read it. End of story. They aren’t judging the girls wearing them in any way at all. They are showing girls what is appropriate and what isn’t. I’m sorry that you aren’t mature enough to realize it! If you don’t think that the immodest dresses are immodest, whatever! We all have different opinions on these things. Just quit bothering everybody with your negative comments. The rest of us are trying to talk about the dresses. So please, if you don’t have anything positive to say, don’t say it.

      Eurydice. They’re fictional characters :O

Yeah but this i no longer about the person AT ALL. Someone put her in those clothes, so there is absolutely no judgement on what that person chose, because they didn’t choose it. You should be happy they even compromised.

Ignoring evil is just as bad as doing evil.

Exactly Apple! They aren’t judging the girls that wore them. They’re showing us what’s appropriate and what’s not. End. Of. Story. SO if you aren’t mature enough to keep scrolling when you see them appear then it’s your problem. And please be so kind as to keep it to yourself because you are certainly getting annoying, this coming from a girl with five brothers.

There’s just no pleasing you is there? Good grief. This is what my mom tells my 8 year old brother, if you don’t like it don’t read it!

There just trying to show an example of what’s not modest. It’s okay. Besides it’s your own opinion. ๐Ÿ™‚

Loving all the first three! Sooo gorgeous! The last two… well, I don’t think I have to say anything! It would be so epic if you could do a movie edition featuring dresses from fantasy movies like Lord of the Rings and Narnia!

The character thing is so cool! I would love to see it in the future! The first dress I thought was okay. I like the color. But the fit of it is a little odd. The color of the second dress is really pretty too, but there’s too much going on for me! I like the third one’s shape, although I wish it had more coverage up top. The last ones are pretty revealing. Thanks for the post!

I love doing it with characters, instead of real people–that’s a genius idea!

Hermione’s dress is SO cute! I love it! It is so cute! I love the colors and all those ruffles! The sheer sleeves are gorgeous, too.

      Posted by BFFofGOD4EVER on April 27, 2013 at 21:25

I agree! When I first saw Hermione’s dress, I was in love. I’m glad it made it to the Modest is Hottest!
