Modest Is Hottest! Movie Prom Edition: Hermione Granger Rocks Ruffles and We Give TWO Characters a Makeover!

Hey sweet PI ladies! Since we are in the midst of prom season, we thought it would be fun to do a Modest Is Hottest post on fun movie prom/formal dance dresses. Please note that I’m not endorsing any of the movies featured–I just wanted to take a look at some modest (and not so modest!) movie prom dresses.

    So here goes!

    Lori-singer-Ariel-Footloose
    Ariel Moore/ “Footloose” (1984)

I love this adorable pink dress. It’s a very simple and classic design featuring a single off-the-shoulder ruffle and cinched satin waist.

    hermione-Yule-ball-dress
Hermione Jean Granger/ “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005)

Love ruffles? How about this gorgeous gown featuring various shades of purple, a cascade of ruffles and adorable satin ribbon belt. And I just love the sheer shoulders!

    sandy-grease
    Sandy Olsson/ “Grease” (1978)

This white dress with fitted bodice and flowing skirt is a ’50s design that never dies! I love the flower at the waist.

    romy-and-michelles-high-school-reunion
Michele Weinberger and Romy White/ “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” (1997)

I love unique, but these two prom dresses are just too risque! Not only are they short and revealing, but the designs look like undergarments!

Which of our three modest looks is your favorite?

    1. I love doing it with characters, instead of real people–that’s a genius idea!

Hermione’s dress is SO cute! I love it! It is so cute! I love the colors and all those ruffles! The sheer sleeves are gorgeous, too.

    2. The character thing is so cool! I would love to see it in the future! The first dress I thought was okay. I like the color. But the fit of it is a little odd. The color of the second dress is really pretty too, but there’s too much going on for me! I like the third one’s shape, although I wish it had more coverage up top. The last ones are pretty revealing. Thanks for the post!

    3. Loving all the first three! Sooo gorgeous! The last two… well, I don’t think I have to say anything! It would be so epic if you could do a movie edition featuring dresses from fantasy movies like Lord of the Rings and Narnia!

      • Evil? Really? Good grief. If yah don’t like it don’t read it. End of story. They aren’t judging the girls wearing them in any way at all. They are showing girls what is appropriate and what isn’t. I’m sorry that you aren’t mature enough to realize it! If you don’t think that the immodest dresses are immodest, whatever! We all have different opinions on these things. Just quit bothering everybody with your negative comments. The rest of us are trying to talk about the dresses. So please, if you don’t have anything positive to say, don’t say it.

    4. OMG YOU DID HERMIONE!!!!!!! AHHH!!! LOL, sorry I had a fangirl moment there. 🙂 Anyway, I absolutely LOVE hermione’s dress!!! LITERALLY have always been completely obsessed with it!!! The character idea is so great! Thank you!!!

    5. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hermione’s ombre dress. It does show off a little bit of her chest, but I think there is nothing wrong with that at all. I hope I look as stunning as she does on my “big night!”

    6. Love Hermione’s dress! Always have 🙂

I’m not going to prom. That weekend happens to be the last week of Turkey Season. I’m going camping and hunting with my dad and brother instead.
