My 5 Favorite CMA Country Christmas Performances
Written by T.M. Gaouette | December 25, 2011
Did you watch the 2011 CMA Country Christmas? I’m a huge country music fan, especially country music that glorifies God and reflects Christian values, so I was very excited to see this show.
The whole event was fantastic. I expected nothing less–among the performers were Faith Hill, Darius Rucker, and Amy Grant. I was a little disappointed that Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift were not among the talent, but the show still was amazing.
The entertainers also got to perform on a beautifully designed stage with an animated backdrop that changed with each song. So one minute there was a crackling fire in a huge hearth and the next there were snowflakes falling over a wintery scene!
I enjoyed all the performances, but the following were my absolute favorites:
Scotty McCreery – “The First Noel”
I’m always taken aback by this young man’s voice. It’s so amazing and he sings this song very well.
Sugarland – “Silent Night”
I love the Southern twang of Jennifer Nettles’ voice. It works beautifully with this song. “Silent Night” is one of my favorite Christmas songs.
Keith Urban – “The Christmas Song”
Urban has such a handsome voice. It just gets better and better.
Martina McBride – “Please Come Home for Christmas”
Love the song, love the voice, love the dress, love Martina!
Rascal Flatts – “Mary Did You Know”
This was my all-time favorite performance of the night. I love, love, love Rascal Flatts and this song is so beautiful.
