I love to read every night before I go to bed. I also love books so much that I can’t step foot into a Barnes and Noble without buying too many! Here is my collection.
I have the different categories separated into Christianity, beauty/style tips, dating and marriage, and American cinema/Marilyn Monroe. Some of my favorites that I recently have read are How to Reach Your Full Potential for God by Charles Stanley, When the Enemy Strikes by the same author, and Every Young Woman’s Battle by Shannon Ethridge.
It’s so important to make reading a life-long habit. Try to read a little bit every day! You will expand your mind and learn so much that the web can’t offer you. Have any of you girls read these books? Also, what book(s) do you think I should read? Comment and let me know!

I think you should read: “But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” and the Jesus Freak books.
I recommend anything by Pete Scazzero, Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer, Captivating by Stasi Eldredge, Crazy Love by Francis Chan, Messy Spirituality by Michael Yaconelli and The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian (since you just got married 🙂 ). I love reading!!
My all-time favorite book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I also like the Million Dollar mysteries by Mindy Starns Clark. 🙂
OHHHH my gosh, have you read The Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers? They’re AWESOME!
I second that^ I love The Mark of the Lion series, beautiful.
What about harry potter, percy jackson, twilight, the hunger games, and all the good FICTION books?
NOT TWILIGHT! I’ve never understood the appeal of those books… But those others are really cool!
I like Twilight…and I LOVE Harry Potter!
I can’t stress how much I love “Guys are Waffles, Girl’s are Spaghetti” by Chad Eastham, a Revolve tour speaker. I love the message and how it really helps you learn about the opposite gender. I want to buy more of his books!!
Jenna Lucado’s “Redefining Beautiful” is also a good one. It talks about true inner beautiy and how God can act as your Father if you don’t have a true father-figure in your life.
I also LOVE the Left Behind: The Kid series. It does take a while to read (and good luck finding them all, because there are 40 little books in the series and the adult series has 10 to 20 books ina ll), but I love how the authors take Revalation and lay it out with real events. My dream is to make a series of books based on these series.
Anyway…those are my favorites and I’ve been meaning to get new books to be inspired by. I can’t wait to hear what other books other girls like to read! 😀
I read the first 5 books of the original Left Behind series. They were pretty interesting, but I haven’t read the other half.
I plan to start on the Left Behind: The Kids series soon (I started out with the original Left Behind books but they were a bit complex to understand). They’re such great books!
I love Chad Eastham’s books! I also read “The Truth About Guys” by him. I recommend also reading Joshua Harris’ book “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” because it focuses more on waiting for the right time to start a relationship, which I think is really important.
Have you ever read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers? It’s a great book that is centered around God. You will definitely fall in love with Michael Hosea. <3 :]
I’ve read that! It made me think a lot, I’m like, “Okay, so Michal = Hosea, from the Bible = God and Angel = Gomer = Isreal/Christians = me… right?” But it is good and very well written!
I like to read a lot, I especially like fantasy. One of my favorites is the “Dragon’s in our Midst” series by Brian Davis. I know that it probably sounds kind of weird, but its, like, a Biblical fiction type of thing. Now that I think about it, it is kind of weird… oh well, I love it anyway!
Dragons in our midst is probably my favorite Christian series! It is kind of weird, but it’s amazing! It’s aabout dragons, yet it’s Christian, and actually believable…even though obviously the stuff in the book is fiction.
I love Brian Davis, he has several series, I’m reading Tales of Starlight and Dragons of Starlight right now. I’ve read almost all of his books, also Reflections Edge is really stunningly written, I love his dialog.
I haven’t read any of those books btu I love to read-Barnes& Noble is my favorite store! They sound pretty good-I’ll have to check them out! 🙂
Every Young Woman’s battle is AMAZING! I read it this summer and it is what made me decide to stay pure until marriage. I am currently reading The Christian Atheist which is good as well. Crazy Love by Franchis Chan is my all-time favorite, though.
Crazy Love is the BEST,for real! I agree with you.
“Passion and Purity” and “Quest for Love” are two amazing books that I recommend especially for girls, but boys as well. As a teenager, it really helps so much with dating and the like to read books like these.
Have you read Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis? They are amazing and christian!
Those books are amazing! I absolutely love all the tie-ins with the Bible! C.S. Lewis wrote a bunch of other stuff too, like the Screwtape Letters and Mere Christianity. Those are good too!
Lewis is amazing.
You should read Fight like a Girl by Lisa Bevere…. and Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, and Little Women by Lousia May Alcott 😀 They are all REALLY good.
I LOVE Little Women!!
Redeeming Love or The Mark of The Lion by Francine Rivers both are amazing books! (:
My friends reading that!!! She said it was really good!!!!:)
I’m zooming through a book called “And The Bride Wore White” by Dana Gresh. Instead of 50 kinky sex moves like in Cosmo, its a book with 7 tips on sexual purity. SO revealing and one of the most amazing books I’ve read. It’s improved both my relationship with God and with boys. Since you’re married, the author also has a book called “Pursuing The Pearl”, which is about keeping your heart and mind pure during marriage. She also wrote a book called “Secret Keeper: The Delicate Power Of Modesty” that I can’t wait to read! And, to add to everyone else, READ REDEEMING LOVE. I’m a book snob, and I’m not a big fan of Christian fiction, but that was AMAZING. It strengthened my relationship with God in a way I never thought a book could!
thank you so much for your recommendations, I will check them out! God Bless you 🙂
actress4jesus, I flew right thru “And the Bride Wore White” I love her tips on sexual purity! It makes me look at what she wrote about frome a completely different angle!
How about the book “Christmas Jars”? It’s about a reporter who finds a jar of money for her after being burglarized, and later finds out a family who gives jars of money to people in need every Christmas. It’s a really great novel, and I’m making my own Christmas Jar. In fact, I just found another nickel! :DDD
I love the book “Ways to Live Forever” by Sally Nicholls. It is a great story.
I have “Every Young Woman’s Battle”. The man who wrote “Every Young Man’s Battle” came to our church so I bought the girls version! 🙂
I’ve looked up some of the books listed above in my library. My counties library system has a thing where you can search for books online in any of the libraries, add then to a list and/ or have them delivered to any library so you can pick them up (They reserve them for you for a certain amount of time too). I have added many of the books to my “Wish List”. Unfortunately I checked out a book for my little sister in my name because she could only check out a certain amount of books, and she lost the book. The fines are now up to over $15, so she needs to pay them before I can check out anymore books. But as soon as those fines are payed I will be checking them out. I’ll come home with a pile of books one day (:
I absolutely love I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris. It really opened my eyes. You’re married, but I wish every single girl could read it!
There’s also Providence by Chris Coppernoll. Fiction tear-jerker. 🙂
Anything and everything by Jenny B. Jones. She is so funny. She writes Christian chick lit.
Finally, there’s the one I finished last summer – Lies Young Women Believe by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Dannah Gresh. These are just my favorite Christian books, but I love to read pretty much anything. 😀
My dad gave me that book to read and I love it so far!
Sorry I forgot to mention what book. It was I Kissed Dating Goodbye
trumpetchick, I just read I Kissed Dating Goodbye, and I would recommend it to anyone who has questions about dating!
PURITY BY REBECCA ST. JAMES
A very sweet book that I just read is A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks. There’s also a movie on it and it’s about a girl who is the local pastor’s daughter and through a series of events, the “troublemaker” sort of boy falls in love with her. Focuses on the verse “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”-1 Corinthians 3:14. It is the sweetest love story I have ever read.
Thanks for recommending this book! I just put it on hold in the library. 🙂
I LOVE anything by Tolkien, or C.S. Lewis, or Ted Dekker. 🙂
The Lovely Bones is a great book!
if you havent already the boo ‘heavan is for realo” by todd burpo. i find it really good. although…i would have to say read some fiction.
I am an extremely avid reader who can go through an almost 500 page book in two days. I highly recommend anything by C.S. Lewis, namely Narnia and Mere Christianity. He was a genius! My all time favorite would have to be Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers… That is AMAZING! I also recommend, above all books, The Bible!
Ted Dekker is also AMAZING. I highly recommend The Circle series and all of his books.
“No place for a lady” by Maggie Brendan and “As high as the heavens” by kathleen morgan are really good Christian book. they are love stories but very clean and godly.
Everyone should read the christy miller series by robin jones gunn they are a great series for Christian girls!! Also the shack!!!
I read ‘The Heavenly Man’ Its about Brother Yun a chinese christian. This Book really encouraged me and its a really good read i reccomend it to all of you! 🙂 x
Heavenly Man was really cool, amazing miracles only He (the Lord) can show.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE reading!!! last year I read almost 85 books! I normally read fiction, but sometimes I read self-help/CHristian types. some of my favorites are Life without Limits by Nick Vujicic and The Cause within you by Matthew Barnett.
I saw Nick Vujicic speak at a festival. God has done something amazing with him. It was so inspiring.
Redeeming Love is great! The Penny by Joyce Meyer was so good, it made me cry so much but the end was spectacular. I love Joyce Meyers’ books. I may get to see her in Louisville KY!!!! So excited!!!! 😀 will I see any other PI Girls there… maybe???
You should read Hostage Lands. I forgot who it’s by, but it’s an AWESOME book.
“Till We Have Faces” and anything else by C.S. Lewis. Such a wonderful writer and he is so inspiring. I would’ve loved to have met him. And “Lord of the Rings” is one of my all time favorite series. I’ve read them 3 times already! Also, “Kristin Lavransdatter” is another wonderful book, not well-known but certainly worth reading. I have such a huge list of books to read including “Crime and Punishment,” “Anna Karenina,” “Cry the Beloved Country,” and “Gone With the Wind.” Yes, I’m a big reader and I don’t usually go with easy reads.
I love the Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn!! I’ve read the whole series several times. It’s a really good Christian series that all Christian teen girls should read.
The Divine Matchmaker by Joel and Casey Johnson is a really good book too.
YESS!!! THE CHRISTY MILLER SERIES IS AMAZING!! ALL OF YOU GUYS SHOULD READ THEM!! they r rlly good teenage Christian girl books!!!!!!!!! 😀
Do you have any fictional books? I’m just wondering, those all sound good but sometimes we just need something different.
Like everyone is talking about the “Dragons In Our Midst” Those are GREAT!
Melody Carlson is good. I love the Real Life Series by Nancy Rue. Also, read Crazy Love by Francis Chan. I think every Christian (including me) should read it.
I’m reading Left Behind by Tim LaHaye
Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann!!! It’s such a cute clever mystery where the sheep investigate the murder of their shepherd.
What are some of your favorite beauty-tip books? I would love to know because you seem to have a great sense of style 🙂
I’m going to read Heaven is for Real, has anyone read that one? I’m reading at the moment Wrestling Prayer:A Passionate Communion with God.
Nicole, that’s a cool bookshelf!
I listened to an audio book of it. It was very good! So great to think God loves us so much that he has provided us with the best place ever for us to live with after this short life is over!!! I know I can’t wait!! 🙂
I love “And the Bride Wore White” by Dannah Gresh! It was really good, and makes you think about how far is too far, and set a limit.
@GoatyGirl, I just recently read “And the Bride Wore White,” and it was fantastic! I completely agree w/u and would highly recommend it!
I think you should read to kill a mockingbird.
Good Book <3 ^
Read books written by Jim Cymbala. Pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle in N.Y. .He shares life changing stories thru the power of Christ. He has top models in N.Y. attending his church and one of the models was instrumental in witnessing to a top hairdresser featured in Vogue who accepted the Lord after all the fame left him totally empty and homeless! Jim Cymbala’s latest book, “Spirit Rising” is a must have. It is so inspiring to see what God is doing today thru prayer in the lives of many people that is truly miraculous! Enjoy! P.S. They have a 24 hr prayer line nd I’ve asked them to pray for your mission.
Kissing Katie- best book ever (besides the bible)
I recommend anything by Karen Kingsbury, Melody Carlson, Francine Rivers, Beverly Lewis, or Wanda Brunstetter. Thry are all great Christian writers for fun reading. For growing in the Lord, I recommend anything by Elizabeth George.
A super awesome series is the True Colors series by Melodie Carlson. There are twelve of them, but the order you read them in doesn’t really matter. They each deal with a different girl in a different situation and how to confront their issues from a Christian standpoint. There are a couple, like the third one, that are not exactly appropriate for younger readers but show the true patheticness of society and the sadness of the standards set by our peers. They are great tools even if they don’t seem like it until a little ways into the book, which is only because the main characters don’t usually start out as a Christian.
God Ventures is really good! <3
In His Steps or WWJD by Charles Monroe Sheldon.
Kasey, I love In His Steps
I love reading the Left Behind series. I read the Adult books so now I’m reading the kids one.
Sex 180 is a great book about changing our views of dating and reasons behind it. I forget who its by.. and Just Like Jesus by Max Lucado is a great one too 🙂
