My Tips to Glamorize Your Room!

Are you bored with how your room looks, or simply want a chance to glamorize your space? Your room should reflect your personality and little details can make all the difference! Here are some fun and inexpensive ways you can do just that. Get ready to inspire all your friends who come over!

1. Pick your theme for your room! Is it beachy chic? City girl? Funky and bohemian? Cozy and comfy? Pick the vibe for your room first, and then you can figure out the colors you want for your accessories. My room’s theme is “Old Hollywood,” so I have colors in black, grey, white and turquoise with silver accents!

2. Don’t be afraid to paint the walls. It only takes one can of paint and one day of painting- pick your favorite color and go at it! It’s cheap and a fun way to spend the day with your friends. Just make sure to put down newspaper so you don’t get it on the carpet. You can also get pretty wallpaper for your room at Anthropologie.

3. Can’t afford a new bed? Get a pretty comforter and buy pillows that accent that color. You can buy a pretty white comforter for about $40 at Target and you can get pretty pillows that accent it!

4. Let the light shine in! A simple window treatment will make your window 10x better. Try removing the blinds and put in pretty floor-length curtains instead! Here are some pretty window curtains also from Anthropologie.

5. Get cute lamps! I have a clear one with white I bought it at TJ Max for $30! Here’s me other sparkly lamp I got at Z Gallery. At this store, they have SO many pretty decorations!

6. Mirrors give the illusion of more space! If your room is too small and you want to open it up, get a larger mirror and place it on the opposite side of your room which will give the effect of a bigger space.

7. Have a drawing of yourself on your desk! This is a funny way to remind you that you are special and unique and will make you smile every time you look at it, I promise!

8. Invest in professionally matting two pictures. I got these original Marilyn pictures for my birthday, so I got them framed in the colors of my room!

9. Use a clear box to store pretty rocks or seashells in! I have one with inspirational quotes on colored rocks.

10. Textured decorated candles make the difference! Try to get pretty ones that you can place the candle inside of to glam it up, instead of having just the brand name displayed.

11. Buy a case for your books! I have a white one, it’s pretty big but I have a lot of books! You can organize them according to subject, or however you want!

12. Proudly display whatever you collect! I have limited edition Marilyn barbies that I love, and I love to show them to my friends. Display what you love, don’t keep it hidden in a box!

13. A nice throw rug can easily hide not-so-cute- carpet! I wanted my room to stand out a bit, so I got a fuzzy black rug.

14. Get cute flowers that look real! I don’t want the hassle of buying new flowers every week, so I have these pretty orchids I keep on my desk that add a serene feeling.

15. Last but not least, add some matching accessories to your bathroom! I continued my theme into the bathroom, with turquoise and sparkles. You can buy pretty bathroom accessories at Target!

With these small but special changes, your room can go from blah to gorgeous! What are some ways that you’ve decorated your room to make it pretty? Share your ideas with us!

I know these are supposed to be small changes and easily affordable, but i still would not be able to afford anything that you mentioned >.< you should write an article like this, but a diy (do-it-yourself) version! Like in my room, a lot of the posters were made by me and my friends. Also, I have a dry erase marker for my mirror so I can write stuff on it. And a lot of stuff in my room is from discount stores or yard sales. (:

that’s a great idea, I’m writing it down and I’ll make an article about that asap!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the pictures!!! I am wanting to do my room with shaded lavender walls (some darker/lighter than others) and have a black and white bedspread. I heard that Target has some cute bedspreads, and so I am really looking forward to my next trip to Tar-jay (as the British say it).

Okay, so I’m trying to redo my room into a beachy, nautical type theme with the colors navy, white, and red. I loooove that color scheme. Anyway, I can not find a horizontal navy blue and white striped comforter for the life of me! Any ideas where to find one? Thanks!

hmm.. that’s a tough one. Have you tried D*elias or Ikea, or maybe google those colors with the word comforter… it has to be out there somewhere!

my room still has the pink butterfly theme from when i was 8, and its going to be hard to get rid it lol. but i finally got my walls painted purple! i dont have a particular style, i kind of like bits and pieces from everything, so i like making my room kind of a mismatch, vintage theme.
i got a whole bunch of records from my grandparents (nothing valuable, we checked) and im going to decorate those and hang them up on a section of my wall. can write verses and other inspirational quotes in silver sharpie and other metallic colors, have some friends draw small pictures on them, even splatter paint some. im also going to have my friends come over and help me, so its a great way to spend some time with them. i cant wait for when its done!

I’m a hugeeee Elvis fan so I would love to do this for my room & display my elvis stuff like you did for your marilyn stuff!! I love the Old Hollywood look!

Great tips and I love that you found everything at bargain prices!
My room is in lime green and turquoise, which are two cheerful and really popular colors, so it’s easy to find stuff that matches them.
I found a cute gift wrap that matched my room. I covered up my ugly desk and one of my shelves with it, and now they look great! There’s lots of things that you can cover up with gift wrap. You can also make a creative collage on a table and put a lacquer on it so it won’t get messed up.

This is SUCH a cute idea Julia!! I love these two tips. I never thought about using gift wrap before! I’m going to make a little collage too and do this 🙂

I love photography so I’m always taking tons of photos of pretty much anything. =) The ones I’m super proud of, or just the ones I like the most are in picture frames all over my room. They make me smile, give me something to talk about when people come over, and they make my walls and bookshelves pop! =) Another thing you can do to accent your walls is put up decals. Right above my bed there is a fairly large decal that says “With God All Things Are Possible” It’s the first thing I see when I wake up, and it makes my whole day better! Surrounding the words are green, blue, and brown polka dot wall stickers I got at Target for $10. Since those are the colors of my bedspread it all coordinates really well =)
I really like the idea of the flowers in your bedroom Nicole! I may steal the idea from you ;-)Thanks!

hey Melissa- I love your idea with decals! 🙂 I want to get an inspiring scripture and frame it! And of course you can do any of the tips mentioned, that’s why I did it! God Bless and have an awesome day. 🙂
