My Top 10 Favorite Christmas Albums!

I have to admit that once Thanksgiving is over, I break out everything that is Christmas-related–it’s my favorite holiday! I love the music, the lights, the tree, the excitement; and I love that it’s all for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Music wraps Christmas for me like a big red bow, so I’d like to share some of my favorite Christmas albums with you. There are so many albums out there, so I have limited my offering to try to meet your tastes (I also love the classics, such as Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby, but you might not be interested in them yet).

The following choices made the list for different reasons. They are not in any order but will give you a taste of different types of Christmas music. Enjoy!

    1. These Are Special Times by Celine Dion is an all-time favorite for me. Her voice is amazing and her rendition of “O Holy Night” is the best ever. Trust me; I’m always searching for a better one. I LOVE this song.

    2. Josh Groban’s Noël was the No.1 Christmas CD two years running–you’ll understand why when you hear this. He has an amazing voice and his CD covers many Christmas favorites.

    3. TobyMac’s Christmas in Diverse City is a new release and I love it! The CD kicks off with an upbeat “Christmas This Year” and features many of the traditional favorites with a tobyMac twist. Listen to his version of “Little Drummer Boy.”

    4. Nicole wrote a post on this newly released Justin Bieber Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe. It’s packed with Christmas favorites with a Bieber touch. On a side note, the album’s sales benefit charities such as Pencils of Promise and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

    5. After winning second place on America’s Got Talent, 10-year-old Jackie Evancho gave us her Christmas album, O Holy Night. It only has four traditional songs, but they are amazing, especially her rendition of “O Holy Night.”

    6. The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection has only six songs, but they are fun to listen to. Her song “Christmas Must Be Something More” is my favorite.

    7. Chris Tomlin presents us with a mix of worship and traditional Christmas songs on his album Glory in the Highest–Christmas Songs of Worship.

    8. I love the rendition of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” in The Christmas Sessions by MercyMe. This Christmas album is a must for any collection, in my opinion.

    9. The distinct sound of Rascal Flatts resonates deep in its Christmas album, Unwrapped. There are only four songs, but they’re worth a listen. “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” is my fave!

    10. If you love the sound of a choir, then you will adore Libera. These boys are absolutely amazing and their Christmas offering, The Christmas Album, is outstanding. “Carol of the Bells” should put you in the mood for Christmas!

I wish I could add Carrie Underwood to my list, but even though she has released Christmas singles, she has not yet released an album. However, I could not end this post without a note from her. Following is her rendition of…you guessed it, “O Holy Night.” Did I mention that was my favorite Christmas song?

If you love country Christmas music, don’t forget to watch the CMA Country Christmas special on December 1 at 9:00 PM EST on ABC.

Do you have a favorite Christmas album? What is your favorite Christmas song and who sings it best for you? Who do you think sings a better “O Holy Night”: Celine Dion, Jackie Evancho, or Carrie Underwood?

    1. I love the song ‘All I Want for Christmas’ by Rhema Marvanne. She’s a very young girl who has a strong beautiful voice.. with an amazing story. Her mother who was a gospel singer, died from cancer.. and she believes that God has given her this voice, to sing for Him. In the song, All I Want for Christmas, she is talking about her dad 🙂 It’s so cute! <3

    2. Carol of the Bells will always be my favorite Christmas song. I have like 3 different versions on my iPod currently. I also have the Family Force 5 Christmas Pageant album and I love it. It’s something different. I also like the Relient K album Let It Snow Baby…Let It Reindeer. My favorite songs from it are I’m Getting Nuttin’ for Christmas, I celebrate the Day, and Handel’s Messiah

    3. I love Relient K’s Christmas album “Let It Snow, Baby… Let It Reindeer”. They are my favorite band and they just have such good music. I really like their song “I Celebrate the Day” and I might even sing it at church on Christmas!

    4. Some of my favorites are Christmas Prayer, which is Nick Jonas when he was like ten or eleven. I’m really not a Jonas brother’s fan but the song is amazing. Also, Celtic Women’s Christmas CD. It’s really beautiful. 🙂

    5. I love Michael W Smith–we have his Christmas CD and his voice is so beautiful! It makes me want to go ice skating and throw snowballs with my brother! But I do enjoy listening to fun ones like Manheim Steamroller (check out Northern Lights with David Archuleta singing it!!!) and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree. And the Charlie Brown Christmas special CD. I will never forget chasing my brother in circles for “Linus and Lucy”!

    6. David Archuleta’s ‘Christmas from the Heart” is beyond AMAZING!! His version of ‘O Holy Night’ is better than Josh Groban 😉 but he’s nothing less than angelic singing “What Child is This”. I saw him in concert for Christmas two years ago, and he’s very humble and God-loving 😀
