See if this sounds familiar: You snap a picture for Instagram. After staring at it for about five seconds you say, “Nope. That’s not the one!” You then proceed to take 50 more pictures and play around with the filters before settling on ONE picture that “will have to do.” Does this sound like you? Don’t worry, we’re not judging—we all do it!
Today, one of the problems with social media sites like Instagram and Snapchat is that they allow users to project an unrealistic version of themselves out to the world. Furthermore, people who use them are usually so consumed with looking at their phones and flipping through filters that they neglect to live in and experience the moment that they’re capturing.
And that’s where a new social app called Beme comes in! This app is said to be a “stripped-down version of Snapchat.” What does that mean exactly? Check out this clip from the creator in which he explains what makes Beme so special:
We’re kind of excited about Beme because it’s a step in the right direction for social apps. Instagram and Snapchat are great…to a point (in fact, you should follow us on both—*wink wink*). However, we think they encourage unhealthy habits. We’ve got to stop hiding behind filters, stop fixating on our phone screens and start living in and enjoying life’s beautiful moments.
What do you think? Will you be downloading this new app?
