Christian Life

New Artist: Beckah Shae

Beckah Shae is a Christian pop artist on the rise. She has been heard on Christian radio like The Fish 95.9 FM; has worked with famous Christian artist Toby Mac; was nominated this year for a Dove Award for her album “Life;” and released her fifth album “Destiny” on August 16, 2011.

Shae has also collaborated with Montell Jordan and other artists who are well known in the Christian hip-hop industry. She has kept up with the sounds of today and the popular music industry. One reason I like her is that she is standing up for godliness and righteousness as a leader in the music industry. Beckah Shae not only sends a great message, but she also has an amazing voice.

The goal of Shae’s new album “Destiny” is to awaken the soldiers of Christ. It also reminds us to focus on the Lord and our purpose, and to rise up in the line of the army we are in. Shae has a similar spiritual passion and vision to me regarding the next generation. I am so thankful there are musicians standing up for God and singing the truth!

One of Beckah Shae’s songs is called “Here in This Moment,” which is definitely a favorite of mine. The chorus and lyrics encouraged me so much and it brought me so much joy, I had tears in my eyes! Listen to “Here in This Moment” from Beckah Shae’s “Life” album.

One of my favorite songs on Shae’s new album is called “Gold.” It is based on trials and tribulations and says that when we go through the fire, we will come out as gold! This is in the book of Job: “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” –Job 23:10

The sound is so upbeat and makes you want to dance! Listen below and sing along, PI girls!

Beckah Shae also re-makes secular pop songs by artists like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Nicki Minaj, changing their lyrics to godly ones. Not only does she re-make popular songs, but she also does what she calls a “Scripture Snack,” where she and other artists like Montell Jordan beat box and collaborate on vocals.

Here is the “Pop Medley Remake” by Shae:

hes not a singer, but I really like Brad Stine. He’s a Christian Comedian so he doesn’t cuss or talk about tings that wuld make christians feel awkward, but he’s still really funny.

She is an amazing woman of God! I love both of the songs you posted as well as all of her pop medley videos! God has done amazing things through her! Everyone should take a listen to her music!

Does anyone else think that her Here in this Moment song intro sounds like Journey?

I love, love, love Beckah Shae! She not only is a change for good in the general music industry but in the Christian one too! Because she has upbeat and techo music, it draw people into Christian music. Especially those who think it’s all just hymns and slow songs (not that those are bad either!).

I hate to be Debbie Downer here, but Nicole, you also seem to imply Marilyn Monroe is a cool person too. I mean maybe she was nice but it just kind of shows that you don’t have much discernment. I mean THIS girl sounds great, but when you say you look up to someone who lived a famously, publicly sinful lifestyle and refused to stop and then give us another suggestion of a girl to admire, it just sends a very mixed message.

This article was written by Christina, not Nicole anyway

there is more to a person than what the media portrays of their life. yes, we want role models as christians, but we can’t forget we are ALL sinners. she had enormous talent! there is nothing wrong with admiring her. there is no perfect role model. and she wasn’t even a christian. you cant hold her to the same standards

She is so awesome!! She is such a good role model and she is so pretty!! And nice job with the article!

i love the remakes of the popular songs…because some of them have such catchy tunes, but now the words are good, too!!

Oh my gosh yes! I have heard her! I was listening to my music and there was a suggestion for her, I love her now!
Another awesome artist a little bit like her is Jamie Grace. Her first album came out a little bit ago and I also went and saw her at Sonfest. She is amazing! Her album is called One Song At A Time. Her song Hold Me was number one on iTunes on the Christian section for a while too.
