In a new book “Finding Freedom,” based on Meghan Markle’s life, authors share how faith has gotten her through the “darkest moments” of her life.
Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, two royal reporters detail their book “Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family” as “the first, epic and true story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s life together, finally revealing why they chose to pursue a more independent path and the reasons behind their unprecedented decision to step away from their royal lives.”
Although the two authors are royal reporters, they claim that “all information” in the book “has at least two sources.”
In “Finding Freedom,” the authors detail how faith has been pivotal in Meghan and Prince Harry’s relationship from the start. Ever since they announced their relationship to the public, they’ve faced rumors, disdain, and have been the paparazzi’s greatest obsesssion.
The two shocked the world last year when they announced they would be stepping down from their royal duties, and moving to North America to live a “normal life.”
“Part of what helped Meghan get through this difficult time was her faith. Her relationship with God and with her church is extremely important to her. That’s something most people do not know about her,” the text reads. “It plays a central role in her life, as an individual, as a woman.”
An insider source also shared, “When I talk about her faith being a big part of her life, it’s her faith in God. It’s her faith in her family. Her faith in the people closest to her.”

While you may not see us here, the work continues. Thank you to this community – for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great! Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another. Harry and Meghan
“It’s prayer and conversations with God that have gotten her through the darkest moments. That’s something that plays a significant role in her life and her relationship with Harry,” the book adds.
The couple, who are currently in the process of stepping down as working members of the royal family, now reside in Los Angeles, CA with their son Archie.
As Markle grew up, she had an “awareness of God” but was not raised overly religious. Over time the actress stepped into her own faith and developed prayer life. According to the authors, Markle would even lead her fellow actors in prayer before starting work each day.
“She used to gather the cast and crew of ‘Suits’ for a prayer circle before starting work,” the book points out. “Her invocations on set were never about a specific theology. Instead, she wanted to bring everyone together during moments of transition or difficulty.”
