Nicole’s Notes: My Affordable Looks for the Week, Featuring a Glamorous Evening Dress!
Written by Nicole | May 13, 2013
Hi Project Inspired girls! As a lot of you know, I like to show you girls modest and cute outfits so you can gather inspiration from them, and recreate them yourself! I also believe that as Christian girls, we can dress cute without showing all our of skin! So here are my looks for the week. Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite, and which one you would like to try!
For my first look of the week, I went for something more casual (for me, because I usually wear dresses!). I wanted a clean but fashionable look, so I paired white shorts with a floral tank top from Forever 21 and a Forever 21 denim vest. I really believe denim vests can be worn many different ways during the spring and summer, and you easily can find really affordable ones!
My husband and I were running errands and we saw this cute old hotel that was built in the 1950s! I knew it was a great place for a photo-op! My dress is by Betsey Johnson, my pink flats are from H&M (only 8$!) and my rosebud necklace is from Francesca’s.
My next look of the week is probably my favorite, because I got to really dress up! My husband and I went to a special event and the attire was formal, and it’s so much fun to have an excuse for a glamorous look! My dress is by Suzi Chin from Nordstrom, and my jewelry is by Nadri (also sold at Nordstrom). What I look for in an evening dress: One that isn’t too tight so I feel self-conscious the whole night, and something feminine and classic looking! Do you like to dress up?
I went to New York for a few days, and we stayed at a beautiful hotel in the middle of the city that was built in the 1920s! This room was especially beautiful with the fresco style paintings, the chandeliers and the romantic Italian staircase! My dress is by Adrianna Papell, my bow belt is from Forever 21 and my turquoise necklace is from Francesca’s.
On the weekend in New York, we visited the Metropolitan Museum and it was so incredible! The artifacts, paintings, and sculptures were incredibly beautiful, rare and spectacular! I HIGHLY recommend going if you visit Manhattan. You will learn so much, and walk away with a greater appreciation of history!
Also, guess what? A Project Inspired girl named Audrey recognized me in the gift shop as we were leaving, and told me how much she loved Project Inspired and how it was helping her grow closer to Jesus! God definitely intervened so that we would meet! Here is the picture of us. My dress is by Jessica Simpson and my necklace is from Francesca’s! (I love that store!)
We saw many different Egyptian artifacts, including golden sandals, large sphinxes and even a wig that was discovered in a tomb! The day inspired me to go for an Egyptian look, and so I wore this white flowing dress with gold accents, and gold jewelry. My dress is by Calvin Klein, I’m wearing the same flower necklace from Francesca’s, and my bracelet is from Forever 21.
Out of these five looks, which one is your favorite? Also, if you have any questions leave me a comment and I will try to answer as many as I can!
Remember: Your beauty always comes from the INSIDE. Even if you have all the beautiful clothes in the world, it doesn’t mean anything unless you have Jesus in your heart!
You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God (1 Peter 3:4).
