    Nicole’s Notes: My Affordable Looks for the Week, Featuring Spring Florals and Pastels!

    Hi, Project Inspired girls! As a lot of you know, I like to show you girls modest and cute outfits so you can gather inspiration from them and recreate them yourself! I also believe that as Christian girls, we can dress cute without showing all our of skin. So here are my looks for the week!

    For my first look of the week: I wanted to wear shorts with this floral tank top, and I must say, it’s not easy finding long shorts that are still cute! I got this pair at an LA store called Loehmann’s, but I am on the hunt for a mainstream brand that offers a lot of colors in shorts that are on the longer side! Girls, if any of you have found any like this, leave me a comment below!

    For a more “polished” look, you can wear a brown belt with shorts. Cross-body bags are in for spring, and I got this white one from the website asos.com (I believe it was under $35). My flats are from Forever 21, and I think it’s totally cute if you pair two different shades of jewelry together, as long as they are complementary and somehow “tie in” to your outfit.

    For my second look of the week, I was in the mood to wear pink, so I paired this soft shade with white for a simplistic but chic combination. I actually got this dress when I was in Paris with my husband two years ago, and my purse is by the brand Red Valentino. The only times I invest more money into something I wear is if I know I’ll love it forever, if it’s classic and not trendy, and it’s really good quality. So, most of the time when I splurge, it’s on bags or shoes. My necklace is from Target, and my shoes from TJ Maxx I’ve had forever (I love that store!). I really believe this style of dress is flattering on all body types!

    My third look is incredibly easily to re-create: I got the striped skirt from Target by the brand Merona, the denim vest is also from Target by their brand Xhilaration, my pink earrings are on clearance right now at Target and my pink tank top is from H&M, only $7.95. Since the skirt is black and white striped, I wanted to give this outfit a pop of color, so I paired the hot pink tank top under the jean vest.

    For my last outfit of the week, I wanted to pair this white and black peplum top with white shorts for a clean but chic look. It’s very on trend this season to pair white and black together, and it looks super cute to add a pop of color with a bright accessory! So I chose this orange necklace that I got at Francesca’s (this store is really great for accessories!). My peplum top is from the Limited, my black wedges are from Target, and my shorts are from Loehmann’s.

    1. It’s a pain to find longer shorts that are still cute. What I do is buy a pair of jeans and then cut them down to shorts. Then all you have to do is fold the bottom over and you have cute shorts. This way I can make them whatever length I want. I find it way easier than hunting down longer shorts (whenever I do find a pair, they usally cost more than I want to spend)! Plus, scrap fabric for a future sewing project! 🙂

    2. I totally agree with you about your purse and shoes tip, Nicole. Your feet have to be extra comfortable in the best shoes you can afford, and your purse should last a long time. 🙂
