Not Dating Yet? Here Are 7 Things To Occupy Your Time!

Are you currently in between relationships and unsure how to occupy your newfound free time? Maybe you’ve decided to wait until you’re a little older to start dating. Or perhaps your parents have decided that you’re still too young to date. Whatever the reason may be, if you’re not currently dating, here are a few things that you can do to help fill your time:

    • Make a list of all the books that you’d like to read and get started. Reading is a great way to fill  some unoccupied time. In fact, you might even consider starting your own book club. You and a group of friends could meet up weekly or monthly to talk about a preselected book. Here is a list of books that you could use to get started.
    • Plan a regular Girls Night Out with a group of friends. If some of your friends are dating or have other responsibilities, then it doesn’t have to be the same group of friends each week. The idea is for you to be able to have some wholesome fun with other people. Preselect a day, time, and meeting place, and have some fun!
    • As an alternative to a Girls Night Out, you could start a Girls Night In tradition. Instead of going out, you and a group of friends could stay in, grab a few good movies and some snacks and enjoy each other’s company.  Hey, you might even want to turn it into a slumber party!
    • Are there things that you’d love to do but have never had the opportunity to try? Would you like to ride that new roller coaster at the amusement park or check out that new adventure movie? What about that dance class, drawing lesson, or cooking seminar that you’ve had your eye on? Well, why not try it out now? Make a list of all the appropriate things that you want to do and finally do them!
    • Join an extracurricular club, sport, youth bible study, or youth group. This is a great way to fill any unoccupied time!
    • Be a leader and start your own group! Share your talents with other girls. If you’re good at drawing or singing, start a club where you can teach other girls. Do you like to bake? How about getting a group of bakers together to host a bake sale? You could donate the proceeds to a good cause.
    • Take time to pamper yourself! Go get your nails or hair done, or better yet, do them yourself. Experiment with new nail polish colors or try a new hair style! Drop some lavender into the bathtub and take a bubble bath. Try giving yourself a facial. Google “homemade facials” or “natural facials” to find some great recipes for natural and inexpensive facial scrubs/masks. Pampering yourself doesn’t have to be expensive if you use your imagination!

There are so many things that you can do to occupy your free time. What are some other suggestions, ladies?

    1. Love the girls night in Idea! Me and my besties have a sleepover almost every 3 months, we are sophomores now and we are all going our seperate ways after graduation, I am so glad we have that time together!

    2. One fun activity that NEVER fails at entertaining is sewing crafts! You don’t have to be super creative to make yourself a purse, plush stuffed animal, a skirt, dress…the possibilities are endless! You can Goolge it OR buy a craft book from the book store. I highly recommend “The Cute Book” by Aranzi Aranzo, “Cute Stuff”, or “Cute Dolls” by the same author.

    3. You forgot about taking up a hobby! Hobbies are a great way to preoccupy your time. For me, I love painting as I find it to be very stress relieving. Cooking, reading, writing, photography, hiking, etc. all some good examples.

    4. Can you please write about the book called ‘Kisses from Katie’? Or if you have not read it yet..do so. Its amazing. The book made me relize that I want to do mission work and raise money for children in Uganda. I would LOVE to see a post about the book on here, to get people to know about it. Such a blessing it is.

    5. Listen to uplifting music, of course! Get in the dance move by listening to some Christian artists that will keep you on your feet such as: TobyMac, KJ-52, LeCrae, or Group 1 Crew! Have fun praising God! 🙂

    6. Something you can do that not only fills up time but earns money is babysitting! Put your service out there; make cutesie little business cards for yourself, or take a nice walk and while you’re at it put babysitting flyers in your neighbors’ mailboxes. Best yet, start a tandem babysitting business with your bestie! Sure, you won’t make quite as much money because you’ll have to split the pay, but it’ll be double the fun if half the money. If you’d like, take babysitting classes before hand. They’ll come in handy in case of emergencies, and you can also put the word “trained” or “experienced” on your cards/flyers and watch the calls come pouring in 🙂 Have fun!

    7. I am 18 yrs old and have never had a first kiss… so I know, it’s ok to be single (at least for the time being) I’ve always figured if God wants me to have a boyfriend, he will bring the right man into my life.

    8. Great article! I will share this with some people I know! I’m 15 and I don’t plan on dating until I’m 18+ and I’ve definitely kept myself busy all these years! I read nonstop! Lots of Ted Dekker books and of course….the Bible:) I have sleepovers and I live right nextdoor to my cousins so I’m always doing something!

    9. I love this article. I am currently in the sixth grade, and people are already dating and doing sexual things. I know some people who read the cosmo mag! People really need to realize their age and take their time to grow up. I admit, I have never kissed a guy or had a boyfriend. (I have been asked out, and I always say no.) Even though this is something a girl really loves. I am proud that I am single, and I know there will be someone out there eventually. 🙂
