November Book Club: “Sex and the Single Christian Girl”

Hi to all my beautiful girls!

As we head into the holiday season, what are you thankful for? I am so, so thankful for my wonderful husband Eric and the light of our lives, our son Elijah Benjamin! I am thankful for all of my family, but I am most thankful for Jesus Christ, who saved me.

I am also thankful for other Christians who write amazing books that I can learn from and share with others. Even though I am married, I love our November Book Club selection, Sex and the Single Christian Girl, by Marian Jordan Ellis. Marian is a Christian who did not get married until her late thirties, so she knows firsthand what it is like to wait…and wait…and wait for the guy God had for her.

Marian grew up in a Christian home and knew about purity, but she didn’t really understand why she was supposed to wait or how damaging it would be to her life if she didn’t until she reached her mid-20s. She made mistakes in her teens and early 20s and talks honestly about how that affected her life. Then at the age of 25, she really fell in love with Jesus and decided to learn how to fight off the sexual temptations, insecurities, and rationalizations and “reclaim” her purity.

Marian talks about purity in a different way than many of the other sex and dating books out there. She reminds us that purity is a battle for all women–single or married. We’re in a war for our souls, and Sex and the Single Christian Girl helps us prepare for that battle wherever we are in life. “If you are tired of settling for less than God’s best, I want to invite you to pick up your sword and join me in the beautiful fight,” Marian encourages us.

In a culture that keeps telling us every day that sex is no big deal and marriage doesn’t work, it’s great to have an encouraging book like this one to remind us that we are not alone in the “beautiful fight” for all the good things that God has for our lives! Right, my beautiful girls? That’s why I want you to join me in reading Sex and the Single Christian Girl his month. I promise you won’t regret it. We’ll also talk about it in one of my live chats at the end of November, so get it now and get started! You can order it here.

We have so much to be thankful for, and I am thankful for each one of you!

    Love,

    Nicole
