PI Quiz: Name That Bible Book!

Have you ever tried to share a Scripture or story from the Bible with someone but couldn’t remember what book of the Bible it was in? I have.

It might not seem like it, but it’s important for us to have an idea what each book of the Bible is about. When we know the overview of each Bible book, it makes it easier to find the Scriptures we want to share with others, or even just the Scriptures we want to read for ourselves!

Take this quiz to find out how well you know individual books of the Bible!

    1. This book of the Bible, written by King Solomon, is all about wisdom for living. Which book is it?
    2. This book in the Old Testament details the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. Which book is it?
    3. This New Testament book talks about the beginning ministries of the disciples following the ascension of Jesus into heaven. Which book is it?
    4. This Old Testament book details the rise of a young Hebrew woman from orphan to queen of Persia. Which book is it?
    5. King David wrote at least half the “chapters” in this book of the Bible. Which book is it?
    6. These two books of the Bible only have 25 verses each! What are they? (Hint: They’re both in the New Testament!)
    7. This “carefully investigated” gospel was written in “consecutive order so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.” The author was both a physician and historian. Which book is it?
    8. This book of the Old Testament details the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. Which book is it?
    9. This book covers the leaders of Israel before Israel asked for a king to lead them. Which book is it?
    10. This is the last book in the Old Testament. Which book is it?

    Don’t look until you’re finished!

    Answers:

    1. Proverbs
    2. Nehemiah
    3. Acts
    4. Esther
    5. Psalms
    6. Philemon and Jude
    7. Luke
    8. Ezra
    9. Judges
    10. Malachi

How many did you get right?

If you got fewer than 5 correct, release your curiosity and read one of the books you missed! There also are books that can help you gain an overall view of what each book of the Bible is about; I own one called What the Bible is All About by Dr. Henrietta C. Mears, and my copy is well-loved.

If you got 5-9 correct, you’re very observant! The next question is: Have you read the books that you’ve observed so carefully? If you haven’t, pick one and get started! Who knows what other great observations await you?!

If you got all 10 correct, congratulations! You know more about the themes of individual books of the Bible than many Christian adults! Keep it up!

Don’t worry if you got a lower score–some of these questions were pretty tough! The cool thing is, now you know more about these books of the Bible than you did before you took the quiz! Now embrace your inner researcher and go crazy!

My son, if you will receive my words and treasure my commandments within you, make you ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding; for if you cry for discernment, lift your voice for understanding; if you seek her [wisdom] as silver and search for her [wisdom] as for hidden treasures; then you will discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God (Proverbs 2-1-5).

    1. That was fun! My score was ok. This helps remind me that I need to study the Bible more. I think I am going to read the book of Esther, or maybe I’ll study Ephesians again. Does anybody have any other suggestions?
