Poll: If You Had a Time Machine, Where Would You Go?

It’s fun to daydream about the impossible, and one of our favorite theoretical things to think about is where we might go and what we might do if we had a time machine, a la Back to the Future! Would you want to visit your past or your future? Hang out with your mom when she was young or when she met your dad? Would you rather see biblical times firsthand or glimpse another time period? Let your daydreams do the talking and fill us in on your most fun time-travel fantasies!

    Team Project Inspired
We here at Project Inspired want to guide and inspire teen girls to be true to themselves and to God. We want to show young girls how to be people of value and confidence – how to be your own best selves – through leading a Christian life. Who are we? We're a team of girls, like you. We edit the site, we post to social media, we hang out in the chat rooms and forums. We talk with you, we listen to you, and we love you!

    1. A time machine would leave you in the same place you started, albeit a different time. Getting where you wanted to go from there would be extremely inconvienient. What you really need is a TARDIS.

    2. Um… I’ve always wanted to see Jesus feed the 5,000. I would have loved to meet my Aunt Elin, see the 50’s and hanging out in the 20’s would be awesome. Seeing what I’m going to be like in the future would be AMAZING and seeing what I was like in the past would be AWESOME!

    3. I would either go back to the late 1790’s, to meet Jane Austen while she was working on First Impressions and then Elinor and Marianne, or else I would go to the 1930’s so I could eavesdrop on meetings of the Inklings in The Eagle and Child, and even talk to C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.

      • really? That was the height of World War 2 when the Natzis were taking over and taking people captive- it was incredibly dangerous at that time, entire cities were getting bombed, destroyed from the ground up. I’m just curious why you would choose this time and place?

    4. I want to go back to the Garden of Eden and try to keep Eve from sinning. Another place I would love to go would be Victorian England. I would go see my past, hang out with old friends, do fun things I can’t do anymore. I don’t want to know my future. That would be too weird.

    5. I wish I could go back in time and talk to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and tell him how much people love Sherlock Holmes and thank him for writing awesome stories about him even when he didn’t really want to.

    6. Honestly, I’d like to visit England in the Middle Ages.
I’ve read “A Confederate Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” and many other stories which take place in the time of King Arthur. I think it would be awesome to meet those famous people. I don’t if I’d want to be a serf, a live as the masses did, or be a noble and live in a little more comfortable setting.
Or I might visit the time period of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.”
