Pray With PI: Violence in Charlotte, Syrian Aid Resumes, Athletes Protest

Protests and outrage erupted in multiple states after fatal police-involved shootings of black men in two states this week: Terence Crutcher of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Keith Lamont Scott of Charlotte, North Carolina. There have been two consecutive nights of violence in Charlotte, where a state of emergency has been declared. Humanitarian Aid

The United Nations said it resumed humanitarian aid deliveries to war-torn Syria on Thursday after halting the convoys because of an attack that killed at least 21 people. Secretary of State John Kerry urged the grounding of all aircraft over parts of Syria to allow aid to reach civilians. He told the UN Security Council that stopping the flights could restore trust in efforts to end the war and “give a chance for humanitarian assistance to flow unimpeded.” Pray for the millions in Syria that they receive the aid they need and the brutal war comes to an end. [Read more.]

Many athletes, professional and amateur, are continuing to use their platform to protest racial oppression and inequality in the United States. It began with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick taking a knee during the national anthem and has spread to other players in many sports across the country.
