Do you believe that if you’re grounded in Jesus and have a wonderful, supportive family, you can stay strong in Hollywood and still be successful?
Absolutely! Anything is possible with God. But it won’t be easy. Hollywood is full of temptation. In your journey to find success, you will be tempted in many ways. Your faith will be questioned, your beliefs likely ridiculed and your integrity tested.
Colossians 2:8 – Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
There are ways, however, that you can remain faithful to God, even in Hollywood. Consider the following:
1. Always put God first. Remember that in everything you say and do, you need to glorify God. Whether your gift is as a musician or an actor, you should find a way to direct that gift toward glorifying God. You don’t have to be a Christian singer or select Christian-specific movies, but make sure that even in mainstream entertainment you devote your art to God. And this means ensuring that all your movies or lyrics please Him.
2. If your parents instilled and nurtured your faith in Jesus Christ, then allow them to continue. Stay connected with your parents. Continue to glorify God with them on a regular basis, whether it’s by attending church together or praying together. Remaining connected to your parents and family is always a great way to remain grounded in your faith.
3. Remain in contact with your Christian friends and surround yourself with more good successful Christians in Hollywood. Being around other Christians will help you remain devoted. It will also make it easier to continue your relationship with God if you have others around you who are doing the same.
4. Continue any Christian traditions that connect you to your faith. This will ensure that your new life is just an enhanced version of your old life. Traditions will remind you of where you came from and who you are. You can carry this with you as you become successful in Hollywood.
Stay strong in your desire to remain faithful to the Lord. This way, when you’re faced with temptations that promise elevation in your career, you will refuse them. You don’t want to sell your soul for the sake of fame. Be true to God and yourself and you will be just fine.
Proverbs 3:5-6 -Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
