What are good books to read when you need to feel inspired?
Answer:
Here are my five favorites.
The Language of God by Francis Collins
A Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren

The Reason for God by Timothy Keller
Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo
And saving the best for last, The Bible- God’s true word which is flawless and endures forever!
Girls, share your favorite inspirational books in the comments below so that we have a list we can always refer to for great ideas!
“An Old Fashioned Girl’ by Louisa May Alcott. It’s an oldie, but amazingly relevant to girls today, about going against popular culture and staying true to your values. It has a really sweet innocent love story and fun situations- definitely check it out!
Another great Louisa May Alcott book is ‘Little Women’. I read it over the summer and it has a lot of morals and values in it. It’s a little long, but it’s really worth it!
I liked Jos Boys and Little Men.
I’m a fantasy girl- Narnia and other books by C.S. Lewis are always good- they are based on different elements of God’s teaching. Also, Harry Potter has many of God’s deepest, most profound messages woven into an intricate and enjoyable story- laws about love, sacrifice, courage, good and evil, friendship and faith. Don’t believe anything people say about Harry being “an invitation to the occult” or whatever they say now- it is not in any way, nor was it ever intended to be.
James Herriot and Laura Ingalls are also good- don’t ask me why James Herriot inspires me, I don’t know, but seeing the courage of Laura and her family has in the face of hardships, and also their extreme humanity has inspired me since I was very little.
Just to let you know the lady who wrote Harry potter practiced witchcraft, so that book is obviously not something God would want you to read.
That’s a rumor. The woman was homeless and HArry Potter saved her from sleeping in the streets.
Nicole sione i shared my testimony and it brought him closer to God and i was wondering should i share my testimony with all of my youth group

Check out “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan! 🙂 I’m beginning to read that book! Another personal favorite is “Leadership from the Inside Out” by Kevin Harney. The second one talks about how we should live from the inside, especially as leaders whom need to set the example for those that they lead! It’s a great book and extremely inspiring and convicting!
I LOVE the Christy Miller Series, it basically is about an ‘average’ teenage girl, who waits for her husband 🙂
Ummmm, how about, the Bible? Lol it’s the best written resource there is!
She actually put that in there…
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers!!!!!!!!!
I love The Mark of the Lion series, but I would definatly recomend it to only older girls 🙂
is Harry Potter or Twilight ok if you aren’t totally insane about it and study about God everyday and still belive that he is good???? I really like the books but i dont read them all the time i like kinda sci-fi mysteries things with alot or action and drama in them what books do u think would be good for me to read??? 🙂
Same here, I like sci-fi mysteries, action, drama, and fantasy. I don’t know if it’s okay to read them or not since I’m a christian and a lot of it has magic and stuff. I don’t know what to do either.
I’ve read a ton of different stuff (I love reading), some of it has been moral, some hasn’t. Only recently I think have I really gotten into reading Christian stuff, and I’ve found out how much I absolutely love it and how it makes me focus much more on my relationship with God. So, I’m saying this to say that it’s fine to read books not specifically Christian, but try to keep away from books that implant bad morals or books that God may be telling you not to read. You may find like I have that you feel more fulfilled after reading Christian stories as well.
The Shack by W.Paul Young is such a good book. It talks about forgivness and the union between God,Jesus and the Holyspirit.
God Ventures is really uplifting and FULL of miracles 🙂
Also the Heavenly Man, very incouraging, but somtimes hard to read. 🙂
I’m really a book worm, but some of my favorites are:
Dragonkeepers, Donita K. Paul
Kingdom series, Chuck Black
Knights of Arrethtrae, Chuck Black
A Life of Faith, Martha Finley
Scared, Tom Davis
Priceless, Tom Davis
A good series to read is the “Mother Daughter Book Club” series. It follows 4/5 girls and their mothers who start a book club and it’s a very fun and easy read! It also shows how the girls (who go from 6th grade-10th grade and continuing) deal with realistic problems (boys, family, etc.) but it is appropriate and fun!
Love comes softly is a Chritian book and it’s very good!!! 😀
I didn’t read the book but I watched the movie. And you are right
It is REALLY good!! Have you read any more of the books in the series?
karen kingsburry’s Baxter Family drama – for those who love to read and want to understand God further in a real life way. plus study questions in the back!

SHE Teen by Rebecca St. James is really good and perfect for a girl’s book club. Also, Soul Surfer books by Bethany Hamilton are amazing!
I like this book about Esther called Hadassah: One Night with the King. By Tommy Tenny.
I just finished reading Heaven is For Real. It is truly inspiring and I totally recommend it!!
I love “Heaven is for Real!” It’s such a great book and I cried when I read it, I’m glad it’s on the list! 😀
Wow, reading about all these books and adding them to my list has been amazing – and kind overwhelming too! I feel kind of bad though, because I find it so much easier to read books like this rather than the Bible. I’m getting better, I think. It’s been a couple years 🙁 and I just finished Song of Songs this week. I have to wholeheartedly agree with anyone who mentioned the Christy Miller Series – I heard about it from someone mentioning it on Project Inspired, checked it out, and gobbled up the series. It really changed my outlook, especially now with reading this stuff about Dating or Courting as well. Someone also mentioned Dragonspell by Donita K. Paul, which is very inspiring and metaphorical. I’d also like to add The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Spear, about some Israelites during Jesus’s day.
