    “Roar” by Katy Perry—Faith Version

Hello Project Inspired Girls! This week I’m starting some new covers that will be based on popular radio hits, but I’ve changed the lyrics to “faith versions” of these chart-toppers. This idea was inspired by the lovely Christian artist Beckah Shae, who does pop medleys on YouTube that I’ve covered before here on the site. Not every cover will be a pop song—I’ll still include the top worship songs and inspirational worship music, too!

Hope you enjoy this cover of Katy Perry’s “Roar,” and remember this is all about Jesus. I’m giving all the glory back to God because it is all about HIM! God is taking back the music for HIS glory! We are warriors for God and what we all speak out of our mouths has power! (Proverbs 18:21) Amen? I love you, PI Girls. God bless you!

Here are the lyrics if you want to sing along:

“Roar” (Faith Version lyrics by Christi Given)

I used to get pulled in by the tide,

Scared to stand up for my Jesus Christ,

I went from wild to God’s own child

I guess I went past the breaking point

Took the call and listened to His voice

He spoke so clearly and now I am free

Sin held me down, but I got up

    Already brushing off the dust,

You hear my voice, you hear that sound,

Like thunder gonna shake the ground

Sin held me down, but I got up

Get ready ‘cuz I’ve had enough

You hear that voice, you hear that sound

    (Chorus:)

I got the eye of the lion of Judah

    Dancing through His glory

    ‘Cuz He is worthy

And you’re gonna hear me roar,

    Louder louder than a lion

‘Cuz Christ is the champion and

    Youre gonna hear me roar

    Ro—ar—rrr (x4)

Now I’m floating like a butterfly

Out of my old comfort zone I fly

    I stand for the King

    ‘Cuz He’s my everything

    (Pre-Chorus:)

Sin held me down, but I got up

    Already brushing off the dust,

You hear my voice, you hear that sound,

Like thunder gonna shake the ground

Sin held me down, but I got up

Get ready ‘cuz I’ve had enough

You hear that voice, you hear that sound

    (Chorus)
