Sandra Bullock Rocks Ruffles and We Match Last Week’s Modest Favorite!

Ladies, Modest Is Hottest is a fun way to check out modest fashion on the red carpet. But it’s not just about the outfits as a whole; it’s also about the modest features and little details of each look. And hopefully these will give you tons of shopping ideas…hence, our modest matchups!

Our matchups take your favorite outfit and offer a similar look that’s more appropriate for your lifestyle and budget. Because, let’s face it, most of us don’t have red carpet opportunities to rock formal gowns!

This week I’ve picked three unique red carpet styles. Take a look and share your thoughts!

Zooey Deschanel

I love polka dots, and this chiffon dress with a flowing skirt is so cute. It’s the perfect length with a fun ’50s twist. And I love the sheer shoulders and arms.

Sandra Bullock

Here’s a unique red carpet look. It’s a gorgeous color and I adore the ruffles from top to bottom. And the cute little belt is a fun touch.

Jessica alba

Jessica Alba

This white leather fit-and-flare dress has a simple shape. But it has a unique scroll and floral cut-out overlay that’s so feminine and pretty. Love!

Now for our modest matchup!

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Last week, Taylor Swift’s long metallic mesh dress won our Modest Is Hottest poll, so I went in search of a similar dress that could help you get her look!

davids bridal

David’s Bridal

This is fun version of Swift’s dress. It’s shorter, so you can wear it to a wedding or formal event, and it has embellishment throughout, so it adds dimension to the simple shape. What do you think?

Which of our three modest looks is your favorite?

    I love Sandra’s and Taylor’s dress. I’d wear those so much they’d disintegrate,lol.

I liked the matchup this week! And, I had such a hard time choosing between Zooey Deschanel and Jessica Alba!!

I really enjoy all of these!
    1. Love the retro feel. I’d personally dress it up with a coral belt to give it more color! But it’s a nice dress that I’d wear any day!
    2. I’m not huge on ruffles. But I think Sandra Bullock WORKS them. And that wine color is goooorgeous. And the belt works!
    3. Ees pretty. Again, I’d add a bit of flair to it! But I love the material and shape 🙂

Just a suggestion for the Modest Matchups: Maybe instead of trying to find a dress, you could take the idea of the glamorous dress and transform it into a polyvore everyday outfit. Like for this one, maybe a silvery sheer top with a cami, skinny jeans, flats, and a bag.

Oh WOW this is definitely the toughest choice I’ve had in a while (picking my fave). 😮 😮 😮 I thought I was going to pick Zooey’s, then I liked Sandra’s too, then I saw Jessica’s and I’m like EEEEKKKK! 😉 Hmm I think I’d have to go with Jessica’s. 🙂 I’d say this week’s matchup is the closest you’ve ever gotten to the original dress!

    1. This is cute, but maybe too many polka dots for me!

    2. Not a big fan of the maroon color and the ruffles look like they’re saggy (if that makes sense) I think another person could have pulled it off though.

    3. This is my fave! Jessica Alba could wear anything and still look cute! I love how she tried the trendy maroon\brownish sort of lip color and matched it to her nails. She also kept the accessories simple with just the clutch and rings. And the dress! It’s perf for all seasons (i’ld wear it in the spring… minus the lip color) and the unique floral Lacey overlay keeps it from looking like just another boring LWD.

      Oops! Forgot the Matchup.

      4. The thing I love about Taylor’s dress is that if you find a zoomed in picture, is that the sheer “netting” over the dress is actually little demands strung together, not just mesh fabric. This one looks like it is mesh, which in turn, makes it look cheap (even though it probably isn’t!) However, I do like the mesh over the dress, just not on the bare skin.

#1: ADORABLE and awesome! Loving the vintage vibe it gives off! And her hair complements the dress perfectly!
#2: Unique and beautiful, though not everyone can pull off that look. I do love that color!
#3: Loving this one! Some lace dresses just look frumpy, but this one looks really pretty!
