Christian Life

Scotty McCreery Crowned Winner of American Idol and is a Christian!

Although I’ve been a Pia fan since the beginning and country music isn’t really my thing, I’ve really admired Scotty for speaking openly about his faith in God. I like that he symbolizes that, show after show, with his cross necklace he always wears.

“I’ve got to thank the Lord first; he got me here,” McCreery said as he accepted the award from Ryan Seacrest. When I heard that, I was so happy I even shouted to my boyfriend, “Yes! He gives God the credit!”

Scotty used to practice singing at a Baptist Church in North Carolina. At only 17, he has a surprisingly deep, soulful voice! He said that he prayed and leaned on God each show to get him through to the next round of the competition.

I am so happy that an openly Christian artist is in the media! Go Scotty, we’re rooting for you!

Are you happy that he won?

Is AI winner, Scotty McCreery America's next role model?

I am from NC also and am a HUGE fan of Scotty! I am actually about to move to a town close to Garner, and my family will be trying out his home church. My grandmothers cousin is Scottys Chorus directer at his church. I love that he publicly says hes a christian and hes is a genuinely good person.

I was wonderfully surprised to hear that Scotty REALLY didn’t want to see Lady Gaga. I laughed when he said he kissed his cross before entering the room!! And if you look at the tutoring session you can see how obviously uncomfortable he is in this whole situation. Scotty is a strong Christian and I’m glad he won American Idol even though he wasn’t my pick. 🙂

I know I thought it was so funny too! Just goes to show how scary and what dark influences surround her!

i love that he won 😀 I hope his faith remains strong and he doesn’t get messed up by all the publicity he will get. Scotty seems firmly grounded inc Christ as far as I can tell and he is very open about his faith, which is great. I really hope more people will look up to him and follow his example. He is a great role model for kids and teens, and adults too! I would love to see him sing some more obviously Christian songs though. The only one I’ve heard him sing that actually mentions stuff like the Bible and God is “Live Like You Were Dying” which he performed on finale day. I thought it was wonderful.

I’m thinking about your story on Lady Gaga and Scotty being the winner. I don’t subscribe to cable or digital or any of that. I don’t watch TV b/c I realized I was feeling so worthless after watching it, not that there aren’t good shows or good people on it, but commercials were invading, esp. late night commercials. Whenever something good and true is present something equally perverse and deceiving will be there to steal the attention. “Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness”-Matt. 6

Aww…I’m extremely upset that he won. I didn’t like either in the finale, but I always thought the American Idol was supposed to be more versatile. I’d wanted Haley and James to be in the finale, but oh well.

Scotty was my favorite & I am very glad he won! (: The way I see it; I would be extremely happy to have a man love me second if I was second to my heavenly father. I support him, I know God will use him, already has used him. I can’t help but smile when he sings. One reason of that is he openly professes his faith to the world & the still have him win. I don’t know about you but I respect him & fully support him for standing up for his faith and for making it known in a show that can be provocative. (:

Aw! He’s so adorable I wanted to him to win 😀 I haven’t been keeping up because my ballet is on Wednesday but that’s great that he loves God. I hope he’ll create a song about him <3
