September Book Club: “The Big Picture”
Written by Nicole | September 5, 2013
Happy September, beautiful girls!
I know most of you are back to hitting the books and reading an extra book might seem like a chore, but I promise you our September Book Club pick is well worth the effort. Husband-and-wife team Hayley and Michael DiMarco have been writing books for teens for a very long time on everything from purity to popularity. Now they’ve tackled The Big Picture: Making God the Main Focus of Your Life, an overview of the attributes of God and how your life was designed to fit into His story.
I love The Big Picture because it’s one of those books that takes you really deep into the truths about God and how to love Him more, but does it in a way that’s easy to read and understand. It explains how the Trinity works, the infinite nature of God, and how amazing it is that the God of creation actually lives within us when we accept Him into our lives!
The Big Picture encourages us to reset our priorities and helps us focus more on the God who loves us more than we could ever imagine. I love this quote from page 68:
“God lives beyond our limited four dimensions of length, width, height, and time. Because of that, He has the ability to be closer to you than anything or anyone else in the universe.”
Because we can’t see or touch God on this earth, sometimes our homework, our parents, our friends and our crushes seem a lot more real, a lot closer to us, than Christ is. But that’s just not The Big Picture. Jesus calls us his Bride, and who is more loved, more adored, more cherished than a bride on her wedding day? That’s how we need to live, preparing to be His Bride, and The Big Picture is a great reminder of that.
So order The Big Picture now and read along with me and other PI girls all month. Then we’ll talk about it in one of my Live Chats. I can’t wait to see what you think of some of these deep, life-changing truths. If you can’t find it at your local Christian bookstore, you can order The Big Picture here. Happy reading, sweet girls.
