After winning three straight world titles at the recent Rio Olympics, Simone Biles takes another kind of leap of faith. The gymnast recently announced on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she’s working on a memoir titled Courage to Soar. The autobiography will be published by powerhouse Christian media and publishing company Zondervan.
According to Simone, the book will be “about my life, a little bit about my family and then how I got to where I am.”
Overcoming obstacles has become the theme of the Olympian’s journey. The Christian Post shared a bit of her backstory: “Before being adopted by her maternal grandparents at the age of six, she was placed in foster care because of her mother’s battle with addiction. Years later, Simone worked to rebuild her relationship with her birth mother, Shanon Biles, who recognizes that God blessed her daughter.”
Shanon Biles shared with The Undefeated, “We’ve been through what we’ve been through, and life goes on. God is good, and He put her in this place for a reason.”
Simone’s book will be co-authored by Michelle Buford, who helped write fellow Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas’ book, Grace, Gold & Glory.
It will be awesome to see how faith and determination brought this spirited young woman to the victories she has experienced today!
Courage to Soar is set to be released on November 15, 2016.
