Singer and The Giving Keys Founder Caitlin Crosby Makes Music, Jewelry and Helps the Homeless

Singer-songwriter Caitlin Crosby is also the founder of a jewelry company called The Giving Keys. She has recently reached journalist and influencer Lisa Ling, and has given a TEDx Talk about paying it forward, entitled “Love Is the Key.”

Caitlin’s jewelry has been helping get the homeless off the streets while inspiring others with engraved one-word phrases or statements that help give hope to those in need. Some examples of the words engraved on the keys are “HOPE,” “FEARLESS,” “STRENGTH” and so forth. Click here to support and further Caitlin’s mission, or to see some of the key designs.

Over the last three years, The Giving Keys has employed 28 people who have struggled with homelessness, helped 22 move into permanent housing and collected thousands of pay-it-forward stories. Today, they have over 50 employees and their products are sold at Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Fred Segal, Kitson and nearly 2,000 other retail stores around the world.” —The Giving Keys

“No one is immune from fears, we all have them. But I try to channel the idea of fearlessness in so much of what I do because it makes me feel stronger and propels me to fight harder for what I do and things in which I believe.” —Lisa Ling

Caitlin encourages you to look around your life and the people in your path, as you may hold a key to their freedom. The Giving Keys has been opening doors for Caitlin to be interviewed on TV shows such as The Steve Harvey Show, E! News, the TODAY show and more! Her mission has been furthered by people like Oprah, who chose her nonprofit organization to be one of her top 10 favorite charities at her Live Your Best Life event, as well as celebrities like Harry Styles (One Direction), Selena Gomez and more!

What is a TEDx talk?

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics—from science to business to global issues—in more than 100 languages.”

Check out Caitlin’s music and her official music video for “Love Your Flawz,” which inspired The Giving Keys:

“The Giving Keys was really birthed from the loving-your-flaws concept and my record Flawz. I still want to put more time and energy into that movement…” —Caitlin Crosby

“There are locks all around you and maybe you hold the key to someone else’s freedom.” —Caitlin Crosby

I love how passionate Caitlin is to swim against the current of peer pressure and vanity, and how she wants to make an impact on others. Caitlin has been a world-changer already at such a young age, and was just open to helping others. She took a simple idea of making key necklaces, engraving them, selling them at her concerts and then assigning a homeless couple to then take the job, which expanded and started to change many lives! Wow, such an inspiring story of being faithful in the small and being selfless and looking out for the interest of others!
