Surf’s Up: My Top 5 Beach Fashion Looks!

It’s August, lovely ladies–that means it’s time to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather before school starts again in a few weeks! I love being around water, so beach fashion is one of my favorite things, but I also know how hard it can be to enjoy beach fashion when it seems like each swimsuit is more risque than the last.

That’s why I put together a list of my top 5 fun, modest beach fashion looks. I hope they inspire you during your last weeks of summer!

1. Modest is hottest! For a great modest beach look, try a swimdress–they have cute little skirts and look so adorable!

Image: Target

Target has awesome, affordable swimdresses like this cute black one for $34.99.

2. A patterned suit= a pop of style! A cute pattern instantly ups the style factor of your swimsuit–plus, patterns are so playful and fun! Try a small print on a dark background, like my suit below, if you don’t like bold patterns.

Image: Target

This floral pattern with plaid trim is so sweet! The suit is on sale for $29.99 at Target (the end of summer is a great time to find deals on swimsuits!), and it even comes with removable straps.

3. Dive into a blue suit! Black or patterns not your style? Try a pretty blue suit to pick up on the gorgeous blues of the water! Blue is also calming and relaxing–perfect for a day at the pool or beach!

Image: Target

This bright blue suit from Target is gorgeous–it reminds me of a tropical island! And it’s on sale for $24.48.

4. Pretty scarves make great cover-ups! You can use a colorful scarf as a no-fuss sarong or wrap while you’re at the beach–try a bright color that contrasts with the colors in your bathing suit!

Image: Forever 21

I love the bright tribal print on this Forever 21 scarf–what a fun way to add a pop of color to a swimsuit! Plus, it’s only $9.80!

5: Try a fun hat! A simple summer hat can add glamour and fun to any beach outfit (plus, it protects your face from the sun’s rays!).

Try Forever 21 for super cute options– this great neutral hat is only $13.80! Charming Charlie also has cute ones!

What’s your favorite modest beach fashion look, girls?

~HAHA !! I love how in the 3rd pic it says “Blue is calming and relaxing–perfect for a day at the pool or beach” and then it is thundering in the background 🙂
~but other than that i love the looks ! i usually just wear a tankini and i found a really cute one at walmart, but it showed too much up top, so my mom sowed it a bit to make it more modest.you can always modify to make it more modest 🙂

How is a bikini “sinful?” Guys are going to look at you no matter what you wear, doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing.

I’m confused. Are bikinis bad? I understand that some girls purposely wear them to get guys, and they dress all trashy. I know that’s harmful. But what if that’s not your intention? If I ever wear a bikini, it has to have bigger straps on the top, I don’t like the strapless bikinis. They basically cover cleavage and stuff. But are they bad? Someone help I’m confused D: and doesn’t Nicole wear bikinis?

I wear bikinis as well and I also don’t understand why it would be a big deal for a girl to wear one.

You should care about your clothing, specially if your are trying to show Jesus in you. You wont do that by wear hardly anything hon. <3

@jlm The problem with bikinis is that no matter what your intention is(to be showy or not) when a guy sees a girl in a bikini they see more then what is actually showing. This also applies to short skirts, shorts, and dresses along with tight revealing outfits. By wearing clothes an bathing suits like this we cause our brothers in christ to sin. If you want more info not to long ago an article was posted about what guys think about modesty…you should check it out.

Hi Nicole! I love this swimsuits, but my bod has weird curves where no matter what one piece I wear, it’s always too baggy on the sides of my stomach, so I wear two pieces, but do you think two pieces are sinful?

    • leahgrace99

      Posted by leahgrace99 on August 11, 2012 at 13:23

I wear mostly two pieces (exception when I where one pieces when sailing) but they ALWAYS cover my stomach and my cleavage. So no I don’t think that they are sinful. Kohl’s has some really great bathing suit options that are really cute and funky!

All my friends wear bikinis. Whenever I wear something like ^ that, they always ask why. I’m really insecure about my body but I dont want to tell them that. My friends just don’t understand.

I dont wear bikini’s either because A) They are way too revealing and B) I don’t look good in them either. If one pieces aren’t working for you, try a tankini. It’s a two-peice that covers your stomach. I found the cutest tankini at target for a reasonable price, and the top has some bunching that gives a really good shape. Remember God made you just the way you are and the way that he made you is beautiful!!!

I got my swimsuit at Target too! Well, half of it anyway. I got a dark purple swim halter top at Target, and a pair of lined running shorts from Nike make up my suit! I love halter tops for swim suits, because you can tie them as tight at you want, to cover as much as you want. I also love two piece suits, because they’re so much more comfortable than a one piece. I always gotta make sure the top comes down enough though! 🙂

Let’s not go overboard. Excuse the pun but we are women and we do have cleavage !!!! IThat in itself is not shameful. I believe its just a matter of not flaunting it and purposely revealing too much.

Glad to see that you suggested at leaat three affordable shops–Target, Forever 21, and Charming Charlie–that have cute, modest clothing! My favorite modest beach fashion would have to be a tankini, b/c they don’t reveal too much of your stomach and back, which means that you won’t get sunburned there-YAY!!
