Survey: Celebrate the End of the School Year!

School is over!

Summer is just around the corner, and you know what that means: no more school! Well, for most of you. We know that some of you are graduating, others are heading into summer break and then back to high school or college in the fall, and still others will be taking classes throughout the warmest months. For this week’s survey, we wanted to celebrate the end of the (conventional, anyway) school year and hear all about your plans for the rest of May, June, July and August!

Copy the questions below and paste them (along with your answers) in a comment.

1. Are you currently taking finals? How’s it going?

2. Are you graduating this year? If so, are you finishing college or high school?

3. What academic-related plans do you have for the summer, if any?

4. How are you celebrating the end of the school year?

5. What’s your favorite thing about the end of the school year?

6. What’s the hardest part of saying good-bye to school?

7. How will this summer be different from previous school breaks?

8. Which class will you miss the most? The least?

9. If you’re graduating, tell us about your graduation ceremony and plans! If not, are you planning to attend your school’s graduation to see a friend or family member graduate?

10. What has been the vibe at your school (or at home, if you’re homeschooled) the last few weeks of class? Are there any special events going on or traditions you have with your friends?

Btw, I’ve been homeschooled since preschool and now attend my local community college in case this gets confusing 🙂

    1. Are you currently taking finals? How’s it going?
I’m (thankfully) done with finals but they weren’t half bad, actually. They were way easier than I expected and I got good grades 🙂
    2. Are you graduating this year? If so, are you finishing college or high school?
Yes, I am. I graduated about a month ago (weirdly timed graduation ceremony) and I’m graduated from high school.
    3. What academic-related plans do you have for the summer, if any?
I’m taking the GED for academic/financial reasons and probably the SAT or ACT.
    4. How are you celebrating the end of the school year?
I had my graduation party and then I chilled. I read the entire Harry Potter series again which was great! I never had time to read them again during the school year.
    5. What’s your favorite thing about the end of the school year?
The stress almost completely disappears, which is beyond amazing.
    6. What’s the hardest part of saying good-bye to school?
I love school, as weird as that sounds. I love everything academic so it’s always hard to part with learning and homework and stuff for a while. Despite that, though, I’m so glad it’s over 😛
    7. How will this summer be different from previous school breaks?
There are so many things happening and so many things have happened since last break! It’ll be crazy.
    8. Which class will you miss the most? The least?
I’ll miss chemistry the most, I think. My teacher was fantastic. I’ll miss biology the least because my teacher wasn’t fantastic and didn’t prepare us enough. What’s funny is that I LOVE biology but the teacher made the class awful.
    9. If you’re graduating, tell us about your graduation ceremony and plans! If not, are you planning to attend your school’s graduation to see a friend or family member graduate?
The graduation was great! We rehearsed a lot (which was irritating) but even with the repetition, it was really special. My entire family on my mom’s side came to visit and attend the ceremony which was cool and so did my best friends and my mentor. The party was short and sweet and fun 🙂 I’m going to spend my freshman and sophomore year of college here in my home town at my local community college and then I’ll transfer to a legit university.
    10. What has been the vibe at your school (or at home, if you’re homeschooled) the last few weeks of class? Are there any special events going on or traditions you have with your friends?
Not much happened. A lot of my friends go to the community college with me too so we were all studying for finals and we didn’t really hang out much. The stress level was like a rollercoaster – study (stress up), relax (stress down), repeat.

    1. Are you currently taking finals? How’s it going?
Just my APUSH class final––my other finals are the last week of school, and the APUSH National Exam is May 21st. It was supposed to be today, but it was moved because we had too many snow/cold weather days off of school. Rough Minnesota winter, haha.

    2. Are you graduating this year? If so, are you finishing college or high school?
Nope, I’m finishing up junior year!

    3. What academic-related plans do you have for the summer, if any?

Saying goodbye to the seniors is hard, and I don’t get to see other friends as much.

    7. How will this summer be different from previous school breaks?
This is my last summer of high school, so it’s the last year that my class will be able to say “next year” and still all be talking about the same place. I’m going to make it amazing!

    8. Which class will you miss the most? The least?
I’ll miss my Honors Christian Theology class the most––I love that class so much, and it’s helped me grow in my faith tremendously. As for the least, I will most definitely not miss APUSH or Honors Pre-Calc. Gross.

    9. If you’re graduating, tell us about your graduation ceremony and plans! If not, are you planning to attend your school’s graduation to see a friend or family member graduate?
I’m definitely going to graduation! I have a ton of friends that will be graduating, and I always get the graduation page for the yearbook spring supplement. I take pictures there.

    10. What has been the vibe at your school (or at home, if you’re homeschooled) the last few weeks of class? Are there any special events going on or traditions you have with your friends?
Everyone gets pretty restless, but there are a lot of end-of-the-year things that occur. I’m excited!

No, our finals are the 29th through 22nd. We haven’t even started reviewing yet… O.o

    2. Are you graduating this year? If so, are you finishing college or high school?
No, I have 2 years left, but my brother graduated two days ago :'(

    3. What academic-related plans do you have for the summer, if any?

    4. How are you celebrating the end of the school year?
I get to start studying for the SAT! Haha! I honestly don’t know yet. I might do something with my best friend or go to my grandparents’ house.

    5. What’s your favorite thing about the end of the school year?
Finishing all the courses gives me some type of liberating feeling. Like after turning in the last research paper, project, or assignment, I feel like a 50 pound weight was lifted off my shoulders. I also like looking back on all the memories I made with friends over the year.

    6. What’s the hardest part of saying good-bye to school?
It’s not saying good-bye to school. It’s saying good-bye to friends. Some I say good-bye for the summer, others forever.

    7. How will this summer be different from previous school breaks?
I am excited to be going to summer basketball practices. This is our first year doing those. I love my coach like he’s a second dad, and my best friend is on the team. It will be fun seeing them. Also, my brother goes off to college in August and might do a summer program. It will be really weird and sad when he’s gone.

    8. Which class will you miss the most? The least?
I will probably miss geometry the most as a class. My online hour I will miss the most and least. I will miss the people in my online hour (my best friend, my brother, my track teammate, and two other friends), but I will be very glad when I finish the class itself!!

I cried 5 times- when I saw him in the gown and he came straight to give me a hug, when I saw both sides of my divorced family all sitting together, when my brother gave his salutatorian speech, when they did the laying on of hands ceremony, and when he gave me a rose during the presentation of roses ceremony.

I don’t know, life hits me one day at a time.

    8. Which class will you miss the most? The least?

    9. If you’re graduating, tell us about your graduation ceremony and plans! If not, are you planning to attend your school’s graduation to see a friend or family member graduate? I go to a small school and so we all have to plan and set the graduation ceremony up ourselves. It’s going to be great! The theme is ‘memories’ and we’re going to decorate everything with photos in black and white. It’ll be super cute.
    10. What has been the vibe at your school (or at home, if you’re homeschooled) the last few weeks of class? Are there any special events going on or traditions you have with your friends?
