July 4th is coming up soon, and we know many of you girls likely have BBQ, pool party or fireworks-watching plans with family or friends. The summer holiday is usually tons of fun and features a few of our favorite things (food, warm weather and lots of color), but it also marks a serious and important time in our country’s past. It’s awesome to have a singular holiday that pulls us all together as a nation, despite any differences we might have otherwise.

    1. What are your family’s traditions for July 4th?
Just stay up to watch fireworks; that’s pretty much it.
    2. What are your plans this year?
Well, I’m with my grandparents this year, and all my family is in my home state. All I really have planned is to go to Macy’s to get a sweatshirt, then pretty much stay home the rest of the day. Unless my grandparents are willing to take the risk of sharing a cabin on their “farm” farther north of where I am with their other grandkids and their great-grandkids.
    3. What are you planning to wear?
Red, white, and blue tank top; white eyelet tie-off blouse; light blue jean shorts; 4th of July “themed” socks; tennis shoes; and maybe a pair of sunglasses with the American Flag on them.
    4. Do you have any special America-themed or flag item that you like to wear for July 4th?
I just got it this year; probably the sunglasses I just mentioned.
    5. What’s your favorite July 4th memory?
    Sparklers in the rain.
    6. What’s your favorite thing about July 4th?
This year, a day off of the factory job I have for the summer!
7.If you could do anything for the holiday, which would it be: go somewhere awesome to watch fireworks, have a pool party and grill out with all your friends/family, or watch a live sporting event or outdoor concert?
What would really be nice is having a pool party, then going to watch fireworks.
    8. What’s your favorite song to listen to on July 4th?
I think the name of this song is “God Bless The USA”, but I don’t know the artist. Could someone reply and let me know if the name matches the chorus?:
“And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
    And I proudly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
(‘Cause) There ain’t no doubt I love this land
    God bless the USA”
(And practically everytime I hear “the men who died”, I think I hear “the Man who died”, that Man being Jesus, who, if you think about it, gave His disciples the idea of Christianity, which, throughout the course of history, led to religious freedom in America. I might be over analyzing here; if I am, I’m sorry.)
    9. What does your hometown do to celebrate the holiday?
Pretty much just a 4th of July parade with the high school’s marching band. My sister’s in the band, and I don’t get to see it, since I’m up north with my grandparents.
    10. What’s your favorite food item to enjoy on July 4th?
    Popsicles.

I’m not going to do the question thing because my plans are a lot different this year. Normally I would spend the day at a beach with some friends and then go to the city fireworks, but this year, I’m not going to be in the country, and they don’t celebrate it in other countries so I probably won’t be doing anything for it.
