Survey: What Do You Like Best About Where You Live?

Everyone has a city or town they call “home.” Some of us have lived in several, while others have been in the same place since birth. And like almost anything else in life, there are things we probably love about where we live…and things we don’t love so much.

The key to being happy where you are is to focus on the positives! You probably have some favorite hangouts or restaurants; maybe you love the weather in your town, or the fact that you live in the mountains or near the beach. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear about it!

Copy the questions below and then paste them (along with your answers) in the comments. We can’t wait to see what pops up!

    1. In what city or town do you live?

    2. What’s your very favorite thing about where you live? It can be anything!

    3. Where is your favorite place to hang out?

    4. Favorite local restaurant? What kind of food do they serve?

    5. Do you live in a neighborhood or a big plot of land? What’s more common where you live?

    7. What’s your favorite nearby city or town?

      2. What’s your very favorite thing about where you live? It can be anything! There are so many places to hike.

      3. Where is your favorite place to hang out? Chocolate Springs; it’s a great place to get coffee (and sweets, of course) and have a nice, long chat.

      4. Favorite local restaurant? What kind of food do they serve? It’s not in my town, but it’s the best place in the county for pizza. Gypsy Joynt. It has a very unique atmosphere, and it’s run by a very lovely family.

      5. Do you live in a neighborhood or a big plot of land? What’s more common where you live? I live in a neighborhood, which is quite common in our area, but plots of land aren’t that rare the farther you go from the town centers.

      6. Where is the best place to go the the movies in your town? To see music? The Beacon Cinema is an excellent movie theatre, but I most often go to the Triplex because it’s less expensive.

      7. What’s your favorite nearby city or town? Great Barrington, hands down. I love hanging out there with friends, window shopping, and just wandering around.

      8. What’s your favorite thing about the locals where you live? They don’t scare me like the locals where I had my first apartment. They are approachable and generally friendly.

      10. Do you plan to stay forever, or do you think you’ll move away someday? I wouldn’t mind staying here, but the boyfriend sometimes talks about moving back to NYC, where he went to college. I wouldn’t mind that either, but I’d love to open my own bakery/coffee place in the Berkshires…or Northampton.

It’s a really town small town, but i dont live down town. I live on a small hill in a cute little neighborhood. Also amazing in most seasons.

      3. Where is your favorite place to hang out?

      5. Do you live in a neighborhood or a big plot of land? What’s more common where you live?
It’s a neighborhood. It’s more common to have small little quarters of an acre for a yard. But it’s cool, because literally down the road a ways is farming land and huge yards. It’s a big mix.

      6. Where is the best place to go the the movies in your town? To see music?

      Don’t really have a favorite.

      8. What’s your favorite thing about the locals where you live?
ok, well, some of the locals aren’t all that nice, and the public schooling in my town stinks beyond belief. But I guess I like it that its a small town and most people know each other and i’m not really a part of it because in comparison my family has only been here a short while. but its cool to see that.

      9. What’s the most unique thing about your town, compared to others you’ve visited?

      6. Where is the best place to go the the movies in your town? Signature Theaters. Though there is a place in the town next to me that’s smaller and cheaper ($6.50 for 3d!) 5. Do you live in a neighborhood or a big plot of land? What’s more common where you live? I live in a neighborhood, and while they’re slightly more common, if you go only about a ten minutes drive, you look like you’re in the country…

      6. Where is the best place to go to the the movies in your town? To see music? To go to the movies, we usually go to an AMC, which is in the next town over, but only about a ten minutes drive away. We don’t really have any great places for music in our town. 5. Neighborhoods, all around
      6. The Michigan Theatre is good for movies. The Ark is the best for intimate music experiences, and Hill Auditorium is amazing for world-class performances.

      8. The locals are very diverse, interesting, and smart. I know people of every color, religion, creed, sexual orientation, and political viewpoint. Many of my friends parents are profs or have seriously cool jobs (one of my friend’s dad’s discovered the evolution of whales. its pretty legit)

      10. Do you plan to stay forever, or do you think you’ll move away someday?

      3. Where is your favorite place to hang out?
Common Grounds, a Christian coffee shop near my dance studio. They have great drinks and snacks, friendly employees (who don’t get freaked out by me or my friends :P), and great prices.

      4. Favorite local restaurant? What kind of food do they serve?
Rudy’s. Best BBQ in the Springs, hands down.

      5. Do you live in a neighborhood or a big plot of land? What’s more common where you live?
I live in a neighborhood. There are more neighborhoods, but large plots of land are pretty common too.

      6. Where is the best place to go the the movies in your town? To see music?
My family usually goes to the Hollywood Theater because it’s closest to where we live. There’s also a good dollar theater in town. The best place for classical music is the Pikes Peak Center. A lot of other concerts are held at the World Arena.

      7. What’s your favorite nearby city or town?
Manitou Springs has a lot of fun shops, good dining, a penny arcade, a bunch of historic houses, and a collection of natural mineral springs. There are some creepy people there though, and it seems that you can’t turn the corner without running into some sort of psychic spiritual shop.

      8. What’s your favorite thing about the locals where you live?
Even though we aren’t a small town, we have a very strong community. during the Waldo Canyon fire this past summer, over 32,000 people were evacuated, but there were only about 300 people in the shelters. Some people got hotel rooms, but most of the evacuees were given places to stay by others in the community. When my family evacuate, we got at least four invitations from different families offering to let us stay at their houses. After the fire, many residents gave time and money to help start the rebuilding process.

      9. What’s the most unique thing about your town, compared to others you’ve visited?
The parks. When General Palmer founded Colorado Springs, he set aside plots of land to keep them from being developed. There are places where you can go hiking or mountain biking in the middle of the city and feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere.

      10. Do you plan to stay forever, or do you think you’ll move away someday?

      6. Where is the best place to go the the movies in your town? To see music? The Priest Theater. It’s really small, only has one theater, plays one movie a week, once a day 3 days a week, but it’s also really cheap ($3 per person on Mondays) and pretty much everyone goes there on weekends so you always run into someone you know. The family that owns it is also really sweet.

      7. What’s your favorite nearby city or town? Horseshoe Beach. It’s not real close, it’s like an hour away, but I absolutely love it. The vest way I can describe it is patchwork. It’s like a big jumble of color and people and it’s just beautiful in a sort of run-down patchwork falling apart way. There’s not a real beach there, just rocks, and there are just as many canals as there are streets, because pretty much everyone owns a boat there.

      8. What’s your favorite thing about the locals where you live?
