“Temporary Home” by Carrie Underwood

This week, I’m covering “Temporary Home” by Carrie Underwood. I love this song because it’s a story of three different people and has a strong message about eternity. The three characters portrayed in the song all have their “temporary” situation or struggle. First, there’s a six-year-old who’s hopping from home to home and doesn’t feel like he belongs. Next, there’s a verse about a single mom struggling on her own to make ends meet, and finally there’s an old man in the hospital.
The thread of the song is the hope that we have in eternity with Jesus and that we will be reunited. This is why the old man smiles and says with confidence, “I’ll see you all someday…I can see God’s face.” It’s such a moving song and I really love the lyrics.
For this cover, I simply played the song on an acoustic guitar with basic vocals. I hope you enjoy the clip of my version!
