Thanksgiving: What Are You Thankful For?
Written by Christi Given | November 22, 2011
Around this time of year, we begin to reflect on what we are thankful for. Thanksgiving is a special holiday and the time for family, friends, feasting, and being thankful for our blessings. As Christians, we should always be thankful. This is actually God’s will for us! God loves when we praise him and sing to him in thanksgiving!
Philippians 4:4 says:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with THANKSGIVING present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
It is easy to get wrapped up in the fast-paced society and to forget what we have. How easily we forget! We worry about the future, to-do lists, homework, school, our parents, and more! We worry about we are going through or we are distracted easily, but sometimes we need to stop, say a prayer, and thank God for all of our blessings.
I am so thankful for so many things in my life. I am thankful for God, Jesus, salvation, my family, friends, shelter, my car, my jobs, and clothing; for my ability to see, hear, walk, sing, dance, write music, get an education, and worship freely; and for church and the extra blessings in life. And more! I could go on!
PI girls, I challenge you to make a list of what you are thankful for that you can share at the dinner table on Thanksgiving! Let us rejoice, for we have so many blessings!
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
What are you thankful for?
