This Couple Almost Aborted Their Baby, Then Something Miraculous Happened

Over the past few days, the topic of abortion has received quite a bit of attention. Most recently, Planned Parenthood came under fire for a disturbing video that made its way around the Internet. In the clip, a PPH doctor openly discussed how she sells the body parts of aborted babies. As you can imagine, this story made us sick and it caused us to question this world in which we live.

As Christians, we believe that every life matters and that each child deserves a chance to live. However, we won’t sit here and judge anyone for the decisions that they make in life. We’ll leave that up to our Father in heaven. What we do want to do is shed some light on the positive stories that are emerging from this debate, like this one:

“I was 16 when my girlfriend got pregnant. We went to the abortion clinic on 59th Street. We filled out the papers and…”

This was posted on the Humans of NY Facebook page last week and, to date, has received over 700,000 likes and over 24,000 shares. However, the most incredible part about this post, the part where you can truly see God’s work, is in the comments. Soon after it was posted, people started sharing their own stories, and it went something like this:

“My birth mother did the same. She was 15 when she became pregnant with me. Her boyfriend was 22 and abandoned her, and her father kicked her out of the house. She went to a clinic, but after seeing an ultrasound, couldn’t go through with an abortion. She instead found a wonderful family for me, and then went on to get her GED and finish college. I am so proud of her, and thankful every day that she gave me a chance at life.” Sophie C.

“*standing ovation* that’s what I call ‘courage.’” Carolina G.

“I was 16 and pregnant and also went to an abortion clinic. They did an ultrasound and turned the screen away from me. The doctor said I wasn’t allowed to see because it might make me change my mind. I started crying, sat up and said, ‘I think I just did, I’m keeping my baby.’ Now my son is almost 9 years old and I don’t know what I’d do without him.” Daf G.

“My first child is adopted and she’s almost 3 months old. Her birth mom is one of the bravest people I know and she had made two appointments to go to an abortion clinic, but both times she couldn’t go through with it. I’m forever grateful to her for giving us what we struggled for years to have.” Erica C.

“Was in that exact position at 17. However, I was alone at the abortion clinic. Changed my mind at the last minute, and now she is 24 and the best friend I’ve ever encountered. She looks out for me, [is] very protective of me and she is my biggest cheerleader. Can’t imagine what life would have been like without her. My dear, cherish every moment you have with her. I salute you both for taking that decision at such a young age. Bless you!” Charlotte M.

“October 16, 2000, will be a day I will never forget. I didn’t have the courage to walk out. Evan Alexander would have been 14. It took God a long time to heal my guilt and shame. Praying for you guys and your journey. Looking forward to holding my baby in heaven someday.” Julie M.

“So glad you chose HER life!!!!! Bless you and your family!” Aretha G.

“My boyfriend wanted me to get an abortion with our daughter. I went to the abortion clinic. I had the ultrasound and everything to tell how far along I was. But in Louisiana you have to wait 24 hours to actually have the procedure. I am so thankful for that because I couldn’t do it. My daughter will be 5 on Sunday. I am sooo happy I didn’t have the abortion. She saved me. I was acting reckless. Doing things had no business doing. I honestly know that she saved my life.” —Adia Holt

    1. My cousins wanted to have a child so bad but couldn’t they ended up adopting a baby from a 16 year old girl who changed her mind on an abortion. That little baby is so sweet and has the most wonderful personality. I thank God every time I see her that he spared her life and gave her to my cousins. :,)
