This Guy’s Take on Modesty Is Awesome

Ladies—we’re having a real moment here!

Today, we’re grateful for the young man who posted this good-guy rallying cry on Twitter (for reasons you’re soon to discover). And since we talk quite a bit about modesty here at Project Inspired, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to share a little affirmation from the male perspective.

We’ll let the author’s words speak for themselves:

    *mic drop*

You see, girls, there are guys out there who get it. This Godly fellow clearly recognizes that “it takes two to tango,” meaning that both men and women play a key role in the preservation of modesty—and he’s fully prepared to accept that responsibility.

In other words, this guy pretty much nails it.

What do you think? Do you think his observations are valid? Sound off below!

    Dave Herrmann
My name is Dave, you may see me writing funny articles on PI or managing the social media accounts. My life is putting Christ first and everything else second. Life is beautiful when we smile and choose a positive attitude. God is good!

    1. Dave I their have been so few guys and even female leaders passionately believe this. I have had debates with myself over this. Because usually what happens is women are taught to have a heart for God, seek Him more, and then taught how a guys’ mind work. I have never disagreed with hearing this (and actually believed it),but what those leaders failed to do every time was stress the accountability of christian men. Time they would spend little addressing it and wonder why it only reached their ears of young women and not their hearts.

      • Much like everything in the Christian world, it’s time to change the dialogue from pointing the fingers at one group and start recognizing all of us need grace as it pertains to modesty.

    2. Thank you thank you thank you! I have been saying this all along but everybody always seems to think it’s the girls fault. If Jesus literally partied with whores lol then they can stop staring at me just because my clothes fit me very well. It’s not our fault if some of us have a good shape and I’m not going to wear a potato sack just please some Christian guys. I saw this video awhile back about Christian guys on modesty and they asked this one guy how he thought girls should dress to stay modest. He goes “um well like a t-shirt and jeans or something”. I’m sorry but no first of all being Brown I don’t have the luxury of wearing a t-shirt and jeans at all hours of the day to please some guy and still be taken seriously. My point being all Christian guys should read this before judging girls.

    3. This makes sense. He has a good point. I think it is also important to note that modesty isn’t just in what we wear but how we act. I have met too many Christian girls who dress modestly but have an immodest attitude. As soon as these girls walk in, what they wear is not an issue but the way they treat others and expect to be treated is an issue. Paul talked a lot about women being modest in his letters. He told the women to behave and dress in a way that would not be seen as proud but to humble themselves. This also applies to men. No one should think of themselves more highly than they ought to. God should be the one getting the glory. Not us or our bodies.
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
      Proverbs 31:30

    4. CAN WE PLEASE GIVE THIS GENTLEMEN A REWARD!? In my old youth group the girls there literally got blamed for the boys getting involved in porn. We were never allowed to wear shorts showing the knee. I do, however, believe girls should still dress modest and respectful and in no way try to temp our brothers in Christ with cloths that show everything we own. But it definitely takes two to tango. 😉 Well done, well done. This article is on point.

    5. I can see what he is saying. But justifying the way girls dress is ridiculous. Girls know its hard for guys to keep their eyes off of them so they play around with their minds. Trust me. I do not wear really short shorts, tank tops, bikinis, etc…I just don’t feel comfortable flaunting my body. I’m more comfortable in skinny jeans and a tee shirt. I also wear a one piece swimsuit to the pool with some light weight shorts.I just think when you get to a certain age its inappropriate to wear something that looks like you just threw on some undies and a bra.So really? You paid so much money for something so little? Girls want attention to make them feel good about themselves. Guys have a choice not to look and girls have a choice right when they step in front of their closet. Guys should not be blamed for everything. Guys do like to think about nasty things but if they allow God to help them it will be easier. The internet has just wrecked some of them with porn.
