This Secret Trick Will Make Your Eyes Sparkle and Shine!

I learned this trick a while ago from a makeup artist while I was shooting, and I’m telling you you’re going to LOVE it. All you do is this: buy a navy blue eyeliner and some navy mascara and your eyes will instantly look brighter and gorgeous! This works on all skin tones, too.

My favorite is Mac’s Powerpoint eyeliner in Prussian available at Mac counters for about $14 and Maybelline’s Great Lash mascara in Navy. Try it out, and let me know what you think!

Quick question. Does the navy blue work on all eye colors? I’ve read and heard that people with hazel eyes (the green/brown kind, not the ones with blue in them) shouldn’t wear blue eye make-up. Is this true, or would it still look good?

a lot of the time i use a shimmery golden eyeliner…. my eyes are kinda milk chocolate color, and it makes my eyes more golden. That and a light brown eyeshadow with black mascara.

Cool! One problem though… I’m not allowed to wear mascara OR eyeliner. πŸ™ My mom dosn’t think I’m old enough even though I’m 13. She says why wear makeup now, you don’t need it, or what for? and stuff like that. I think I partially convinced her though! So maybe she will let me one of these days… πŸ™‚

You don’t have to have a billion eyeliners in different colors, you just need an eye shadow palette with different colors and an eyeliner brush! Mix water or primer with the shadow and apply it with the brush πŸ™‚

Okay, so like “layering” the eyeliner? Is it kinda like that? (I’m sorry but I’m like in the cave woman era of makeup! lol)

line the inner rim of your eyes (it’s called your waterline) with the navy blue pencil, and use a liquid eyeliner for your top eyelid- get as close to your eyelashes for a nice, defined line. Let me know if you have any more questions, I’m always happy to help!

I’ve heard that putting eyeliner on your waterline can give you an eye infection…which is sad because I love the way my eye looks when I put it there. Do you think you could bring it up to a dermatologist or an eye doctor and let me know what they say? It would be best if you could email me, if you can πŸ™‚ Thanks!

Okay, so I bought a pencil eyeliner NYC in Navy and whenever I put it on (all around my eye from upper inner corner to my lower inner corner) it just looked silly. I know it wasn’t the eyeliner product that you suggested (I can’t really afford to spend that much on eyeliner) but is there any spefic tips on how you apply it? Thanks Nicole!

    • Posted by Nicole on June 9, 2011 at 11:40

Hey Kathy- the key thing here, is not to put it all around your eye but to put it on the INNER rim of your eye, Does that make sense? Also MAC makes a pretty liquid eyeliner in navy that you can use to make a thin line on your top eyelid. Try these two tips, and I guarantee you’ll like the results!

I was thinking about navy eyeliner recently but i wasnt sure about it. My mom was using black eyeliner until I started using brown eyeliner, so she ended up liking mine better and got her brown eyeliner at mac. Hmm… I wonder what she’ll say about navy (:

I have serious problems with mascara- I have tiny little amost-not-there scottish eyelashes. They end up clumping horribly whatever I do to them. Ideas, please?
(I have blonde hair, blue eyes, and porcelain skin if it matters)

Hey Lauryn- my best tip that I can offer you is go to CVS and buy the Physician’s formula liquid eyeliner and lash booster. It’s a silver pen like thing, and it gives you longer, thicker lashes within 3 weeks! Also it’s a black eyeliner and it stays put for more than 8 hours! I swear it’s my number one beauty item. Trust me, you’ll love it!

Thanks so much for the tip! do you have any tips on how to make your skin glow?

    • Posted by Nicole on May 19, 2011 at 20:07

Hey Erica- I have a few tips. the first one is to buy Jergen’s Natural Glow Express lotion for your face. You can get it from CVS or Rite Aid, it’s about 7$. It gives you a nice glowy tan for your face. Also, the ‘mineral veil’ from Bare Essentials is great for giving skin a pretty, finished glow too. Also, if you can splurge a bit more, I use Chanel’s Soleil tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid. It’s about $45, which is expensive I know- but if you mix it with your foundation it will you give you a gorgeous, Victoria’s Secret glow look. I hope this helps! Let me know if you want any more beauty tips πŸ™‚

  22. Posted by on May 18, 2011 at 18:09

would it still work for blue eyes?? or (if you know) is there a better color for them?

    • Posted by Nicole on May 18, 2011 at 22:10

Hey Sienna! yes it totally works for blue eyes, and looks just as gorgeous! No matter what your eye color is this Navy trick works I’m telling you!
