Most people celebrate their birthdays by doing something to honor themselves, maybe a dinner out with friends, or a home birthday party, or even a weekend getaway.
Tim Tebow on the other hand, uses birthdays to help others in need, each year requesting that friends, family, and followers donate to various charitable causes.
Last year, in celebration of his 31st birthday, the author and professional athlete, launched a campaign called “31 for 31” in which he fundraised to provide surgeries for 31 families that could not afford them.
Over $123,000 was raised for “31 for 31,” exceeding predictions, and in-turn providing for children through the Tebow CURE Hospital.
Once again, for his birthday this year, Tebow is attempting to raise $150,000 in order to provide 150 surgeries at the Tebow CURE Hospital in the Philippines.
“I would love to celebrate 32 years of life by helping kids in their darkest hour of need. That is a true celebration,” Tebow said in a video from the Tebow Foundation.
“For my 32nd birthday, my goal is to fund 150 life-changing surgeries for kids at the Tebow Cure Hospital, and we can make that happen by coming together to raise $150,000 – $1,000 per life-changing surgery. I’m so excited to celebrate together and join as one team so we can change lives for the better.”
“Without us, these kids in the Philippines wouldn’t be helped, and wouldn’t receive the life-changing care they need,” said Tebow.
Yesterday, Tebow update his Facebook following on the progress of the fundraiser, stating that they were already halfway to the goal.
“I’m so humbled and grateful for the support!” he wrote.
TTF family! The team just notified me that with all the places we are fundraising, we have passed 50% of the goal. That means 75 children just like Aldrin will receive a life-changing surgery! I'm so humbled and grateful for the support!

Michael Hulland, the executive director of Cure International, who partners with the Tebow Foundation, called the fundraiser an “investment in God’s Kingdom.”
“Since opening in December 2014, we have had over 17,000 patient visits, performed more than 3,300 surgeries, and have witnessed over 4,000 faith expressions,” Hulland said. “This work is only possible because of the support our partners provide. We thank the Tim Tebow Foundation for their investment in God’s Kingdom and for their heart of service for the children we get to see on a daily basis.”
This year, according to the foundation, one donor is going to match every single gift given on Tebow’s birthday, so it’s a great day to donate.
“These children have lives transformed, physically and spiritually, because of the commitment and partnership of the Tim Tebow Foundation,” Hulland added.
