TODAY’S HOT TOPIC: Do You Celebrate Christmas Year-Round?

Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We all celebrate in our own way and incorporate our own traditions.

We listen to music, watch movies, trim a tree, make a special meal, get together with family, offer up acts of kindness and generosity and go to church, among many other things. And then it’s done, at least until the following year, right?

But is it? Sure, Jesus’ birthday comes once a year, but shouldn’t we be celebrating it year-round?

I thought I’d offer a fun video to clarify my point.

I think the funniest part of the video are the reactions from the character explaining why we need to celebrate Christ’s birth all year. He offers an incredulous look, as if he’s not sure whether his friend’s kidding with him.

This is a really funny skit, but it offers a valid point we should all think about. Celebrating Christmas should be an on-going act. It doesn’t have to involve a big special dinner or a tree or presents. But it certainly can involve the many true elements of the season, such as remembering and worshiping Christ every day, obeying His commands and surrendering to Him daily, and offering kindness and generosity regularly.

The Skit Guys do a great job reminding us of this. If you enjoyed their skit, you should check them out on JCTV and the NRB. They also have an awesome website with tons of fun videos.

Ladies, do you watch the Skit Guys on TV? How do you celebrate Christ’s birthday throughout the year?

That is so true! It really reminds us that Jesus’ life and the coming of Christ are not just a once a year thing. We should be celebrating(and living like we are!) every day of the year. People should wonder what makes us so happy!

    Dear TM,
I love this article, because my school is doing a play on that idea! It is not the central idea, but it is part of the play! Christmas needs to be celbrated all year around!

I had no idea the Skit Guys were on tv! I don’t think I have those channels. In 2010, I went to a youth conference where they showed their videos. Ever since, I’ve been a HUGE fan!
You’re totally right about Christmas. Something I’ve never understood is why we never sing Christmas songs in church unless it’s December. We sing songs about Christ on the cross at times other than Easter, so why not celebrate the day that Jesus was born in a month other than December?
    Thanks for the reminder!

That was awesome. 🙂 His expressions were so hilarious. But yeah, Jesus is more than just the Christmas baby Jesus. This kind of makes me think about Valentines day too, where its one day out of the year to give your loved ones flowers, candy, romantic stuff, to show them that you love them. But somewhere along there I feel ripped off like why can’t we do on other days too. Not saying I want, or need stuff to know I’m loved , but wouldn’t it be nice to randomly get flowers, not on Valentines day from a boyfriend or husband. – I digress, back on topic… My relationship with Jesus wouldn’t be the same if I only celebrated him one day out of the year.
